The M4A1 is the default carbine for the USMC Engineer kit and can be unlocked for the RGF by achieving 145,000 Engineer score. Both the USMC and RGF can acquire the three-round burst M4 after achieving 40,000 Engineer score. Essentially shortened versions of the larger M16A3 and A4 assault rifles, respectively, both the M4A1 and M4 carbines retain many of the statistical attributes, but are far more effective in close-quarters engagements than their big brothers.

Any attachments unlocked for either the M4 or M4A1 will immediately be available for use on the other.
