The AN-94 is the fifth assault rifle to be unlocked for the Assault kit, requiring 166,000 score to unlock. Despite possessing all three fire modes like most other weapons, the AN-94 is the only weapon with this feature that is set to burst-fire by default. A unique trait of this weapon is that each two-round burst fires at 1200 rounds per minute, twice as fast as during fully-automatic fire, technically making the AN-94 the fastest firing weapon in Battlefield 3.

I hardly ever use shotguns, but then again, I hardly ever use PDWs either.
I try and engage enemies from a bit of a distance away, something that both shotguns (even with slugs) and PDWs fail to do.

Noob? Buddy, the SPAS fires one less pellet per shell than the 870, thus meaning less damage. The only things the SPAS has going for it is that it fires slightly faster and has slightly less pellet spread.

i used it before i snapped the disk. i dunno when the patch was, but im sure it was before that. all i got was hit markers. few kills here and there, but mainly hit markers

It came out a few months after the game was released. Now if you were to try using it nowadays, the recoil kicks much harder and the frag rounds cause the shotgun to fire slower.
