And now for my first post of 2014! A rear-view wingspread pic of Roland because, now that I think about it, I don’t think I’ve ever properly shown what his wings look like from behind. Which is a shame because the back is definitely the prettier side. And this time I took the time to actually draw feathers, which I don't usually bother with. But sometimes it's fun to draw his wings with all the feathers in there instead of the more simplified version. :>So yeah, Happy New Year! ^^

Oh my god, this is beautiful. Evidently I can't use it for my setting, but is it okay if I commission another artist and use this as a reference?

Hey! Thanks for the interest, but I would actually prefer if you didn't use this, since this is a personal character of mine. If it's just the coloration of the wings that you like, then perhaps finding reference of a bird you like to give to an artist as reference would be helpful?

I've got a whole individual reference folder saved for images of birds, so I pulled one from there but I think I can find it again....... *wades around google for a few minutes)* Yes okay here, this is the image I used as reference for drawing the wings- lh5.ggpht.com/aPGB9JYZOFWNhoFE… Roland's wings are basically sparrow wings with some slight proportion changes, so I use them as my ref for him. The color was done without reference, since I know how they look already. XD But his wings have always been essentially a house sparrow pattern (like the one in the photo) but I use my own colors and there are some minor differences to it.

Yeah, his wings are much prettier from the back, but since I usually draw him from the front (obviously) you usually only see the underside, which is rather plain. :I
