Description "I am the fire starter, twisted fire starter" -Prodigy

I have been listening to prodigy WAY too much recently, mostly in my roommates car... I think it's started to effect my mind!! The song the quote is from is especially awesome, and it inspired this picture. It started as some kind of anarchist pyro guy... then just turned into a flame loving lunatic! He really looks insane!! I almost kinda spooked my self with this...

The intensity and contrast of this pic is in direct response to the bland crap I submitted the other night.

Done in Photoshop CS with a WACOM tablet over 4+ hours

Yeah, your work reminds me of Murata's work (another deviant in fact), but I'm amazed that it took you 4 hours to make this. Was it the lighting that was complicated?

Heh, I actually watch/idolize Murata! For sure her work has been a major influence!

This took 4 hours because I'm just slow I really labor over the line work... plus I was watching TV while drawing it.

Heh, I really went to town on the lighting... I just really put a lot of effort into trying to figure out which surfaces would have light fall on them and how much. Thank you much for the compliment, especially since you are so good with lighting yourself!

the contrasting is fantastic, really captured the essence of the insanity of this little 'fire starter',

First thing I did when I saw this pic: yelled "whoa!" grinned, and started laughing because I swear my brothers have that same expression on their faces whenever they get near fireworks, lighters, etc. That is very cool, and creepy. I can just imagine him sitting in a straight jacket cackling in a small padded cell. His neck is a bit long, the right arm muscles look funny sticking from his jacket, and his stomach protrudes a bit at the base. Great job on the light/shadow effects. *steals his goggles* Goggles are cool >8D

Remind me to stay FARAWAY from your brothers... I mean, if they really look that frightening!

I wanted to give him a slightly twisted/contorted look... which is the reason his torso is bent so odd. His neck definitely looks too thin for his build, but I actually think it helps him look even creepier!

They aren't quite that twisted... but hey! At least you're not having to live with them! The elder of the two is more prone to random acts of pyrotechnics. Just keep small objects like chips, marshmellows, and strands of hair away from him and the gas burning stove top and everyone will be fine.

I could see you were trying to make his body sort of "s" shaped, but I think the lines from the pockets and the shading gave him the illusion of a beer belly. The neck deffinately adds to the creepy factor, as well as the contortion of his hands. Ah, moltov cocktail anyone?
