And now an AEW version of my S-6A Sea Mule...It is called the ES-6A Taser and has a mast mounted AESA array with a range in excess of 250 nautical miles. The radar is retractable to allow for storage inside of Nimitz Class CVN hangar decks. It is essentially a direct replacement for the current E-2 Hawkeye AEW aircraft. It has the same defensive and offensive capabilities as the S-6A, along with most all of the same sensors/countermeasures. The only sensor it lacks over the S-6A is the rear MAD detector.

Why are the engines mounted there? Like the A10. Better maintenance access?

The Mule (and of course this Taser) have above wing mounted engines to utilize an effect known as "Upper Surface Blown Flaps", or USB. This creates massive amounts of lift when the flaps are deployed, allowing the Mule to be capable having a stall speed as low as 65 knots. It allows the plane to be known as an ESTOL, or Extremely Short Take Off and Landing. The high mounted engines also keep them clear of dirt and debris when operating from a rough field environment.
