Alrighty, welcome Soma, my second entry for the Monster Design contest over at Amigurumipatterns.net! If you like him, you can vote for Soma and Dormi here as of December 3rd from now until midnight December 10th! You have to choose 5 designs to trigger the popup window that will conform your votes. Hopefully Dormi and Soma are 2 of your choices

Soma is a spirit known for helping those who are lost or searching for something find the right path. They can be found in all environments, from forests and plains to oceans and cities. Their appearance varies depending on their surroundings, such as different foliage on their antlers, or exchanging wings for fins. however, they always carry a lantern of blue flame on their tails to light the way for those they guide.

I had a lot of fun with this one, and the design definitely evolved more from my original idea than Dormi, my first design, did. The bulk of the work was definitely in the body - I worked it in an oval, leaving spaces for the legs, tail and head so I could work it in "one piece" rather than sew all the bits on. It saved me the torture of misplaced/crooked limbs, and gave a better shape to the body than the usual method, I think.
