Description Story Barn

I have decided to do a new project over the next year, featuring this barn. Initially I will start with the crop in different phases of growth. The barn and land is owned by the Story family and was built in 1922. It is truly a beautiful structure.

This shot was taken just after oat seeding was completed. Future shots will include the field in head, but before it is ripe, (I have already taken that shot, and the oats are up to my waist...short jokes are appreciated.) The fully ripened field before harvest and one of the crop is swath are also planned. I also think this barn would look fantastic with a thunder head behind it though capturing that will take some luck. And a winter scene may also be included.

thanks,

I think the effect has to do with where I live, the clouds are just different somehow.

Hey thanks PJ,

it looks good sandwiched between those other beauties. have never seen one like the one on top. (Have you ever seen a round barn? They were built in Lower Canada, now Ontario, many many years ago, there are still a few around)

No actually I haven't, I would love to see one of those though.
Havent seen one of these star barns either.. Not sure what the story is behind those.

I have only seen one circular barn in my life, but Ihave a book on barns (If I can find it) that may have more than one and may even have some drawings.

Green land, blue sky, cotton white clouds, and something in between... my favourite kind of landscapes... Makes me feel relaxed.

Thanks for sharing this picture with us and perking me up (it's kinda cloudy today here where I am --that is Greece)

Greece is a beautiful country, I have always wanted to visit, especially to experience the culture and to read old greek (koine) manuscripts.

It is true that Greece (still) is a beautiful country; although it faces some serious ecological problems lately, not 'cause of heavy industry, but other multi complex factors.

I hope you'll find some time and money to visit us someday, 'cause there a lot of beauties hidden in this place. Advice: Make sure you don't stay in one place, but arrange a tour that will encompass both islands, mountains and archaeological sites.

thanks Cindy,

Just got back a couple of hours ago. We had a great time. Visited an old homestead and had Orca be the "homestead dog" in a couple of shots.

We will see if they turn out.

Great series idea, I really look foward to seeing it, and when your done you could do a collage of all of them, kind of an Andy Worhol look but with them all in natural colours!

lol...

I will work on that. there are really very few angles that work for this barn so maybe it will just happen as a matter of course.

Interesting....I never use saturation, or contrast or vibrance. Rather I use curves, and shadow and highlight adjustments.
