It is a ride at The Animal Kingdom, Walt Disney World called "Expedition Everest" based on the mountain. It is a roller coaster that at a point stops because it comes up against the "Yeti" then goes backwards!

Thank you. The bridge that crosses over from one land to another over the canal (that used to have different versions of a boat ride when the park opened) is a great place to get good pictures.

Thank you ~ didn't get to ride Everest this last trip as it rained every day and when it rains with lightening the ride closes. Didn't do as much or get as many pictures (around 4500 between my daughter and I) because of the unrelenting rain ~ glad you like this pic !!

Did you actually ride that? I was scared too.

WDWParksGal In reply to Skellington13Rose [2007-06-04 12:35:30 +0000 UTC]

I've been on the ride three times. Twice one trip and once the next trip. I'm short and my head tends to slip off the back of the seat of the car and I struggle to keep my body in the car, especially when the ride reverses. Tina loves it but I would rather not ride as it kicks my rear end! She doesn't want to go on alone, though so I go on anyway

When I saw it I was like: O.O NOT RIDING IT.

As much as I love coasters, that scared me. I was like: I'll ride it when I get older and have more strength to hang on.

If you don't like or do not do well with wooden coasters I wouldn't recommend it. It reminds me more of a wooden coaster than a metal one. I'm barely 5' tall and I couldn't understand how anyone shorter than I, especially kids, could even keep from being bumped around!

I love wooden roller coasters. Even though I've been on one and it scared me, I'll do this one. ^^

ah memories! I went on that ride last summer, which I'm proud of myself for cause I hate rollercoasters. I have a ridiculous picture of me screaming like a banshee on it XD (and no, I'm not gonna post it, it's too embarrasing!)

Great picture! There's so many photogenic spots in DW

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

WDWParksGal In reply to purplegoldfish [2007-02-02 00:15:45 +0000 UTC]

Usually on rides, no matter how much everyone else is screaming, I'm, like, ho-hum.... I'll even remember where the picture spot is and smile sweetly for the camera ~ not so with this ride! It scare the bejeezes out of me and I have to do my best to keep my head on the back of the ride seat because I'll slip sideways and not be able to ease my upper torso back into the seat! When it stops and goes backwards in the tunnel, I cannot tell if the ride is going frontwards or backwards. I rode it twice last Sept but only once in December, and want to keep it a ride that I go on only once per trip! So, don't blame you at all for not posting the scared-out-of-your-wits picture!!!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

purplegoldfish In reply to WDWParksGal [2007-02-02 19:19:15 +0000 UTC]

haha yeah, the ride is very disorienting, and I was whipping all around. I'm very short as well - just under five feet, so I usually get bounced around on rollercoasters a lot. I remember going on the aerosmith coaster a while back...I was more scared on that one I think.

Hehe, in the picture my sister is in the seat next to me and is like "yeah whatever" while I'm screaming like an idiot lol!

WDWParksGal In reply to purplegoldfish [2007-02-03 19:54:06 +0000 UTC]

Now, see, Rockin' Roller Coaster is, like, a four on a scale of ten to me... okay, maybe a five if Thunder is a three ~ The key to Rockin' is that you have to keep your head back once it starts since it goes from zero to sixty in just a couple seconds. On that ride, I tilt my head slightly to the right and smile because the picture is taken just as the coaster enters the loop so I'm all prepared! It is fun to ride with my eyes closed listening to the music ~ eyes opened or close, it isn't a big deal to ride that one. You're right, being short is often the problem so I shudder to think of kids under five feet (I'm 5' 1/2") on Everest. It is a struggle to stay upright. Tina said she leans forward and has less of problem, which is how she and I both ride Dinosaur; leaning up with our arms just crossed in front us. That way we can move more easily along with the jarrings of the ride. Tina is at least four inches taller than I so she doesn't have the same issues as I. Sigh. The problems with being short. I pray I don't get any shorter with age!!!!! ~ Parks Gal
