This is unbelievable! Your talent is tremendous, ink is one of my favorite mediums, but I can't even fathom the amount of time and effort your pieces consume. You are an absolutely amazing artist!

I don't even think angels are supposed to be 'cute' per say. There's a reason the bible has had them, more than once, introduce themselves to humans with "Fear not." I'd say, while probably not menacing looking, they have something of an intense presence.
I like what you have here. Those wings are gorgeous and armor choice makes me happy in my heart. I wouldn't mind seeing more like this.

Grim and dignified. Lovely work.... I'd agree with the "this is how angels are supposed to look" ... except the early descriptions are really really odd... like three roaring heads and legs like pillars of clouds..
and that's judeo christian... but I'm a ancient history theology buff and there are some great woodcuts...
instead...
This is more how I envisioned an angel to look....(which I think is what was meant)... and yeah... angels are avengers, harbringers, heralds, guardians, warriors and teachers...chubby cute little winged cherubs is a renaissance and neo classic thing. We'll ignore those...
Tho- winged figures in earlier art were primarily taken from a number of cultures to refer to a spiritual being of any sort... babylonians and ancient egyptians used it to depict a non mortal (be it spirit of the dead or divine being) creature... they weren't necessarily actually "winged" -an artist version of a literary convention....
and that's my useless art history trivia for today .. sorry babbling...I'll drink my coffee now...

No, that's fine and not shallow at all. Angels were originally mythic figures and symbols of spiritual entities in service to a greater power. So, technically seeing them as symbols and myth is pretty accurate (historically and theologically).
I do like the lack the absence of emotion-it does lend a sombre more dignified and remote sense.
In short-it's an excellent representation of what you were looking for-kudos for translating idea to image-it's something every artist grapples with and very few can manage.
