Description Preliminary textures applied. I have tried to go for the colorscheme presented on the box and most models. Example: [link]

No unit markings, lettering or any other kind of signs applied yet. Right now it is "factory Fresh". I will later use the model in some sort of combat scene with Tau Infantry and "Dirty it down" a bit. (after I model the Tau Infantry )

Hmmm I think the Engine fans look a bit off, Sorry to be critical, I think your work is great, and your texturing is of professional quality, just really don't like the way that engine sits

Looks great, and I looked at your gallery and I think its great
Keep up the topnotch work.

Cheers

AWESOME *-------*

It looks very like the real model.
I would maybe reduce the specular of the cabin panel.

Really nice work!

Thanks! Was one of my first 3D models I ever made, 3 years ago. I might revisit it someday

Are you planning on making the model available for download anytime soon? I would really love it if I could get my hands on that model.

Truly an outstanding model. It is the best I've seen. What format is it in and can it be used in Daz Studio? If so what do I have to do to get that model?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Westbend In reply to digitaldepth [2005-12-07 02:44:23 +0000 UTC]

Its made with 3D Studio Max. and I am not familiar with Daz Studio? What is that?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Lord-Typhon In reply to Westbend [2007-07-21 10:50:57 +0000 UTC]

DAZ Studio is a freebie program found here. [link] While some of us are capable of making models for it, it depends alot on folks that can make the models for them for it to work. Personally I wouldn't mind having that model for my copy of DAZ myself. Oh if it helps I would look up how to make models in Poser, to be sure of how you can make DAZ compatable models with the rigging intact.

That...Is...a nice vehicle. No really it is absolutely stunning the modelling is good, the textures hit their spot and everything else is also in place.

Now when will we see this in battle?

SPEARdesign [2005-04-06 23:02:16 +0000 UTC]

the model is great, and i'm guessing its only cos u've used generic sort of lighting, but the whole thing is a bit dull? can't wait to see the battle scene.... other than that i can only agree with ~Westbend though i think he picked out a lot more things than i would have seen! good model, cool render

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Westbend In reply to SPEARdesign [2005-04-07 10:57:06 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! Yea, its bit dull, no lighting in it at all exept what default 3D Max settings provide at render. The battlescene is underway. Just have to model the Tau Fire Warrior first

Went out and bought some just for modeling purposes

SPEARdesign In reply to Westbend [2005-04-07 23:04:54 +0000 UTC]

Westbend In reply to SPEARdesign [2005-04-08 10:21:43 +0000 UTC]

thanks for the watch! Appreciate it! The battlescene though is bit on the hold for now. For one, I got invited to join the Tau Mod team for Dawn of War. And I still need to model those Infantry guys

Looking good, though the materials still need a lot of work. The model itself isn't all that perfect but it looks good and that's what's important. Really great work, keep it up.

Westbend In reply to Syaniiti [2005-04-05 00:34:08 +0000 UTC]

Finally some advanced Crituiqe instead of admiration
What parts of the model does not look good and what do I do to fix it?
And what is wrong with the Materials? (exept that it looks way to "Factory Fresh")

Only through helpful critisism and advice can I better myself!

Syaniiti In reply to Westbend [2005-04-05 10:32:26 +0000 UTC]

Now I'm not 100% sure about any of these since I don't have the model, but looking at the codex this is what I saw at a quick glance

The picture is found at [link]

and explanations

1,2 The specularity is a bit off, causing the model to look odd... like the front part doesn't line up with the main body (the bigger circle).
3 an odd bump here, not sure if it's supposed to be like that but I doubt it
4 the lien should be more defined and visible
5 I think this shouldn't be so sharp and the two parts shouldn't be in a straight line

I really am not sure about those things so I could be wrong.

About the materials. If I remember correctly you were going for the look in the box cover, well your model seems to have a two tone camo, and the pattern is very smooth. It looks like the dark blotches should be darker, more random in shape and have a border colour that is uneven (thicker border colour in some places than others. I'd also give some relfectivity to the materials (very little), atleast the cockpit window and such. Again this could all be me hallucinating and seeing this that aren't there. Oh and the materials do look "factory fresh", but since you already know that there's no point mentioning that.

Westbend In reply to Syaniiti [2005-04-05 18:27:28 +0000 UTC]

1,2 yea I agree, Specularity is off and is gonna be fixed the body does line up but I think its just the specularity and choice of camo pattern that throws off the eye a bit.

3. yes, Im a bit clueless how to fix that. It resulted after I booleand the section. Ive been tinkering with the vertices and polys for an hour in that area but I cant seem to make it go away

4. I agree. But whats a good way to making it defined?

5. here im not really following you. It isnt 2 parts but 1 part with 2 seperate colored sections. Or do you mean the dive the engine housing does ontop where it meets the Fan housing? If its that, its supposed to be like that

I really, really appreciate the feedback! Thanks!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Syaniiti In reply to Westbend [2005-04-05 21:24:45 +0000 UTC]

3. Can't really help there then, sorry
4. Try chamfering the edges you want to define more, it works for me (I assume you use meshsmooth)
5. So it appears that I was mistaken, good for you
