Dude, that's awesome! What did you use for the smoke and flames? Seriously, this thing is lovely, I'd genuinely feel bad about shooting at it on the tabletop.

Ooh, that's neat. Simple and easy. I think I'm going to have to steal your idea - I just recently bought the new Tau flier kit. I'm thinking of using the tissue paper-PVA stuff to build a tall 'spider' and paint it like stone - have the top of the big flier stalk stick out at an angle near the top so it looks like the thing is banking around a tall spire of stone and ice.

I was looking for an helicopter-like model, and that was PERFECT.

Could you possibly make a tutorial for how smoke is to be modeled? a lot of us would appretiate it, the uses are endless.

Hey Olovni, thanks for the feedback.
I've thought of another way I'd like to try doing it, but essentially, this was done as follows;
1. Build a wireframe as needed out of electrical wire. If in the UK, strip the centre earth out of some twin & earth cable
2. Drill the base and poke the wires through and glue from underside.
3. Then soak a single sheet of tissue paper in a dilution of water and PVA and black water based acrylic paint.
4. Scrunch the tissue, get most of the water out as you can, fluff it back up, and add in position on wireframe working from the bottom, up.
5. Don't do this all in one go, as the weight can cause it to sag down the wireframe. Let tissue dry out for about 24hrs before going back to it, and leave it on top of a radiator.
6. Once all done, the spray and paint as required.
Hope this helps,
MonkeyBlood

yeah, it does, nice approach. I tried with wireframe and cotton but it ended up being... not good :/
Now, a rules question, since i'm also a tourny player and all: how are you gonna use this in games? It's not on an oval base. Have you considered a slide-in oval base?

Stunning, and very, very clever use of the fixings to the base.
