Description The Imperial Taiwan Government Railways class 120 was built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works of Philadelphia, PA, in 1905. This locomotive was originally built for the Hokkaido Government Railway in Hokkaido, Japan. During the Russo-Japanese War, the battlefield in Manchuria used the B6 type (JGR Class 2100) for the army transportation for the Japanese Imperial Army. But the B6s were suitable and strong enough to serve the army. The government of Hokkaido purchased 50 of these 2-8-0 Consolidations from Baldwin. They have increased their effort on serving the army. In 1906 (Meiji 39), 20 used in the inner area, 17 were owned by the Ministry of the Army. Three of them were sent to Taiwan for the Imperial Taiwan Government Railway during the same year, becoming 60 type ( 60 - 62 ) of the same section . In 1911 (Meiji 44), it was changed to 120 class (120 - 122) with the increase of 50 type steam locomotive. 120 class was later used in Miaoli and Taipei. Sadly that all three were scrapped in 1933 (Showa 8). None have preserved in Taiwan and Japan.
