Sailor Mercury was my favorite of the inner scouts. So, shhh... I love it.
Not to mention, she was never one to want to really stand out in comparison to her friends. I feel this one is very suitable to her personality.

I think because the yellow and reds of Sailor Moon made for better contrast. While this is still nice, it's all blue with no contrasts to make it stand out. Of course, this is from someone who can't draw stick figures, so I could be completely off.

Yeah, I think you're right. Sailor Moon just had more elements going on. Even her hairstyle alone had places to go
