Was there really a reason for that attitude? Im not attacking you or what you want to say. I myself am a gay Christian.Β
here's a website that kinda shows that he was a real person,Β
www.livescience.com/13711-jesuβ¦
obviously, just because he existed doesn't mean that he was the son of god. to say he was or wasn't depends on what information you consider factual. No one will know for sure, since no-one was alive when supposedly was.Β
I personally believe that he existed, and was the son of god, but some people believe that he was just a person, not the son of god.Β
look it up, and read some unbiased books about it. But there is more proof of him walking earth then him not existing at all.
But as I said, I'm not here to start fights. I'm here to say my opinion.
Believe what you will. I'm not going to yell at you for not believing me, or being Christian.Β

Humans are very different from dolphins and penguins, Iβm sure you know. We donβt roll around in mud in an effort to cool ourselves off, like pigs, neither do we eat our siblings in the womb, like sharks.

You might want to give facts to support your ideas. Such as how they did not choose. Though I have a feeling you might play the genetics card, maybe not. And perhaps coming up with several reasons why acceptance might be beneficial. Might have helped you here.

If all you gays want us to stop ranting against you, stop always complaining about how the Catholic Church is anti- gay marriage. Yes. We are. That's what we believe is true, just like how you believe that you are attracted to people of the same gender. Has the Catholic Church refuse to baptize, confirm, or forgive gays? No. Gays constantly mock catholicism to no end, even getting violent. Who's uncivilized now?

tordtomshipper In reply to JuanAtaquito [2018-11-08 01:56:51 +0000 UTC]
When have we even been violent? Plus, my two best friends are Catholic and we don't have a problem. Heck, even one of my Catholic friends are bi! It all just depends on the person, there view, and I could be a condense that these beliefs that people have are in another same category. I only wish for people against gay marriage would just let it be. I'm fine if you dislike it but you don't have to try and stop it. Not every person is in the right, and not every person is in the wrong.

Well, I go to a Christian church, so lol. I don't really complain about churches. I don't believe I am, I know I am. I have been ever since I was a kid. I'm being my true self without hurting anyone. That's what God likes, right? Wanting us to be ourselves? Sure, not all gay or lesbian people are civilized, but I've never gotten violent with a homophobe. I have actually seen more uncivilized "Christians" and "Catholics" because they're hypocritical.

Don't generalize. Most gay folks could care less about your church.
The reason the rest of us are so annoyed with the Catholic (and other Christian) groups is the hypocrisy. You're anti-homosexuality and yet fully encourage or even commit sins that are of the same level or worse. You don't like gay love? Fine. But stop shaving your beards, eating lobster, wearing cotton/polyester, and touching women on their periods. You're committing sins of the same level as homosexuality.

JuanAtaquito In reply to SpongeMuffin [2013-02-10 04:04:02 +0000 UTC]
What the hell are you talking about? Your right that most gays don't care about catholicism but all your other rediculous rules? Where did those come from? I would like to see where in the catholic dogma where it says that I can not eat polyester. Find me that and you win

SpongeMuffin In reply to JuanAtaquito [2013-02-10 07:43:24 +0000 UTC]
They came from Leviticus, the same passage people are so quick to jump to when attacking homosexual people.
"Do not wear clothing woven of two kinds of material." (Leviticus 19:19)
"Do not cut the hair at the sides of your head or clip off the edges of your beard." (Leviticus 19:27)
"But whatever is in the seas and in the rivers that does not have fins and scales among all the teeming life of the water, and among all the living creatures that are in the water, they are detestable things to you." (Leviticus 11:20)

JuanAtaquito In reply to SpongeMuffin [2013-02-11 03:32:08 +0000 UTC]
I did find these things in my bible, however these are rules given to Moses by god for the Old Testament Hebrews to abide by. Jesus came along and updated those rules. Hence his title "new covenant" I'm sure that if god believed that fish where detestable, the miracle of the loaves and fishes (John 6, 1-15) wouldn't have been god's will. We don't hold those rules as god's rules for us. Now we can follow these if we want, we may even be encouraged to, but we may choose. The church's teaching on homosexuality is also an example of a doctrine that the church has taken an official stance on, but the followers of the church may choose what to believe. I personally am no for it, nor am I against it. I do have gay friends, but when gay groups vandalize churches (look it up) I get angry

And when Christian groups vandalize, murder, abuse, destroy, and harass groups THEY disagree with, I get angry.
Every group has their assholes, 99% of gay folks are just good people wanting to have the right to be happy. Don't let the 1% of assholes sway your views.

Seriously? You're going to bring up the crusades? The popes apologized for that dozens of times. And not to mention that the Catholic Church own and runs more charitable organizations, hospitals, soup kitchens, and homeless shelters than anyone else on earth. Without the Catholic Church pioneering free education, America would not have public schooling. Abraham Lincoln once said that the union wouldn't have one the civil war without the efforts of catholic charities and hospitals. and even so, what has the church done to gays? But go to gay pride fairs and you're guaranteed to see some guys dressed as nuns, profaning and mocking the ordained, and I've even seen crucifixes sold as sex toys at gay pride fairs. Don't give me that crap about how where intolerant

Uh, when you said about crucifixes sold as sex toys. They're called St. Andrew's cross (if I'm not mistaken) and its not a crucifix, its just a letter X.

SpongeMuffin In reply to JuanAtaquito [2013-02-11 06:31:28 +0000 UTC]
Uhhhhh, no. I didn't say anything about the crusades.
Please pay attention to the last thing I said. "Don't let the 1% sway your views." I have no problem with all the good stuff Christianity has done, I'm perfectly fine with your religion, I don't let the 1% of badness sway my opinion of the overall goodness of the religion.
I was talking about all the abortion clinics that are set on fire, every gay teenage kid that is beaten to a pulp, every doctor that is shot (one doctor was shot in church by a fellow Christian), every Atheist that is flayed by the bad Christians.
Again, I am NOT saying anything bad about Christianity. I am simply pointing out that every group has its bad apples.

Christian pride because REAL Christians don't hate, judge, condemn, etc because it's not our right or our place. I don't know what you've heard about Christianity but the core of it is love. "For god so loved the world that he gave his only son..." "Love your neighbor as yourself..." "Do not judge lest you be judged..." Basically we're supposed to love everyone the way Christ loved us and be willing to lay our lives down for other people and understand that only God has any right to judge anyone. Don't go bashing religion just because you don't believe in it. We don't like it any more than LGBT people like being called "fags", "dykes" or "abominations." Being a jerk is being a jerk, no matter who it's coming from. Also, I promise I'm not trying to be one. I just get upset when people act like religion ruins everything and all religious people are ignorant, bigoted idiots. I don't know if that was your intention, it just felt like that.
Also, I support gay rights and firmly believe gay couples should be allowed to marry and adopt. There are far too many children in abusive homes, foster homes, or with no home at all who would do well with a loving family, even(the whole of my state gasps!) if that family consists of two moms or two dads. It's sad that there are more states allowing cousins to marry than there are allowing gay marriage. I have a good number of friends who are lesbian and bisexual and they're amazing and beautiful people. Two girls in particular that I know make up the sweetest, purest, most loving couple I've ever seen and I hope with all my heart that someday these lovely young ladies can get married and live the rest of their lives together.
Yes, life would be much better if homosexuality was not tolerated but ACCEPTED. We'll get there some day. I think we'll have to burn down Westboro Baptist Church and perform lobotomies on all its members but some day LGBT people will be accepted and loved and have the same rights as anyone else.
TL;DR: Don't hate religious people because some of us are on your side.

I know a couple gay people and they are some of the nicest people I've ever met! Why is that THEY have to go through all this crap? It ain't fair.

The way people lived was different back then. Therefore, that part of the Bible was written by those who lived during that time period. Or it could've been translated differently from what it originally was.
