Description Finest Hour - Card Number 78: Returned Pony

Rarity looked around to see how the others were doing. Piles of bones and armour everywhere indicated that they had indeed had success.

“Was that… was that the last one?”

Applejack was panting. Swinging around such a heavy hammer with her teeth was rough, even for a hardworking pony as her. At least her dentures had held through it all. Mordin fiddled with some panels on his wrist.

“Scanner indicates no detectable life forms. Besides us, of course. Not surprising, considering not-living nature of enemies.”

“Indeed, Doctor. Though something worries me: If she called these to fight us, why did they fall so easily? Some of them snapped a bit after me, but they didn’t even try to stop us.”

Before Starswirl and Mordin could continue their discussion, Applejack brought up some more pressing matters.

“Gah, who cares? Lets just get out of here as soon as possible; we need to find Fluttershy and Rainbow!”

“You are right… of course, you are right. I’ll just make a quick scry to find the way, and then… what, what was that?”

Amidst the usual noise of the swamp, he heard something strange. A rattle of some kind. Before any of them had a chance to react, a skeleton jumped at him from some shrubbery, snapping in a mad fury. A quick smack from Applejacks big hammer made it settle down again. At least for a while.

“Get down! I thought we got all of them, what is this?”

As more skeletons appeared around them, Rarity noticed something about one of the attackers.

“What, I recognise that one. See those chipping marks? I did that with my whip. Are they all reassembling?

Pinkie Pie took a quick look at the skeletons, and then laughed.

“Oh Rarity, you silly, don’t you know that whips only works on vampires?”

“That is only if they are on fire… and actually a real whip as well. This towel is neither.”

“Yea, but how does the skeletons know that?”

“That doesn’t make any sense. How would not knowing what hit you make any difference?

A concerned Applejack shifted their focus.

“Well, regardless of whatever weapons we used, it didn’t work. Did we have an emergency plan, Starswirl?”

The old unicorn thought for a moment.

“Maybe...”

As they engaged the skeletons again, the distant shout Rarity had heard continued:

“HAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMEEEEEE!”

In the spirit of DBZ, it is going to take a few more cards (eppisodes) to charge...
