How do I move some of my deviations into my scraps?

look at: edit deviation, then >category
you can change the category to "no category", or something like that, then it will move to scraps

Photoshop isn't neccessary in the least bit; a long long time ago there was no photoshop- just photographers, darkrooms, and cameras.
