Description This piece was taken from The Shard, London, using the lensbaby composer pro with the sweet 35 optic. All effects are done in camera - no manipulation involved.

The grey-ish strips that look like roads are actually train tracks above the buildings. I will leave the rest to you, including the title of this piece.

They're such pretty streaks of light! I like the bright orange shards on top of the dark purple background! The perspective is nice, too.

Gosh it is impossible to work this out but that's why it's so lovely, the arrows are fantastic as well as the rhythm of the whole thing, the way it spirals. Fab!

I really like the composition and colors here. There's that wavy line that swoops down from the top left to the bottom right, with the different blues/golds and arrow shapes directing eyes across the piece, gives it a strangely calm feel. It oddly reminds me of an x-mas tree (and the smell of cookies and hot-chocolate)

Looking at it upside down I think I can just about make out the buildings (I think I can see the train tracks too)? But that makes me wonder about the title - one thing I haven't done in London is ride the double decker buses

Lovely photo

I like the composition and colours here too, once I finished with my fiddling with the piece.

It is interesting that you think it gives a strangely calm feel...I was thinking that the certain shade makes it more...something else. X-mas tree may be correct.

We didn't ride a double decker bus?!

Kamal-Q In reply to 3wyl [2015-04-18 16:04:10 +0000 UTC]

I don't know - its hard to say. On the one hand, you can look at it as the motion in the bottom left of the picture calming towards the top right - on the other you can see it as the opposite

No one offered to take me on a Double Decker bus

3wyl In reply to Kamal-Q [2015-05-08 11:22:57 +0000 UTC]

Yes, there are different perspectives with it all.

They're not that great to ride on, is why.

This is an awesome abstract piece. It's colourful and festive, yet I get a feeling of paranoia/ being haunted at the same time.

(Just some thought popping up: Did I just forget my parachute, or is this a bad dream?... Oooh bright lights... Must...Not...Drop...Camera. In order to catch the bus, the bus must catch me)

That is really quite interesting, the feeling of paranoia/being haunted. I think it's something that is quite understandable. There are some elements here that lend to that, in a way.

Reminds me of modernist literature, in a way! Streams of consciousness and all.

GobboE [2015-03-01 09:49:07 +0000 UTC]

Very nice. The lights are like arrows raining down. Did you shoot this through the glass roof of the mentioned double decker?
The colour contrast is great too: the whole piece almost seems like an abstract rendering of a futuristic (or very gothic) city.
Well done!Β

3wyl In reply to GobboE [2015-03-08 14:23:25 +0000 UTC]

I shot this through a glass window of The Shard, which is a skyscraper in London. I wouldn't have achieved that much height from the double decker there, I'm afraid!

Thank you very much!
