Description I nearly didn't have time to post a photograph for this month, but my other half threatened me, so here it is.

I have many, many photographs to upload, but I chose this particular one because it spoke to me. I captured this piece last Summer using a fisheye lens, but I'm only now uploading it because I feel like the shed that's hanging in there sometimes. I face the world, as huge and frightening as it is, and I keep going because of the pier underneath that shed. Every pillar that holds the pier makes it possible for the shed to stay afloat and grounded, even though everything is tipped at an angle and things seem like they will slide away.

This past month has been difficult for me for so many different reasons, yet I wouldn't be here on deviantART, where I am today, if it wasn't for people like Moonbeam13 , dxd and the team at communityrelations , so this piece is dedicated to them.

I also can't forget my other half who has stood by me all these years in more ways than one. He is the light on that shed.

For all those going through a difficult time, I hope this shows that we can weather anything if we hold strong together.

It is with a fisheye lens. If you search photographs captured with a fisheye lens, you'll see similar shots.

I like how this looks like an eyeball if you look at it a certain way.
Look at all them clouds!! They're after the pier! Β

I can kind of see what you mean! That's quite an interesting perspective you have there.

The clouds do make this greater. Would have been a lot different without them.

Yeah true. I like the sky being all gray-blue and misty like that.
And I don't know why but yeah an eyeball.

Hmmm..is it possible to forget one's other half? Nope I love the pic, which is why I came here- but your life sounds a bit like mine. Just cling to something steady while everything is sliding away

Fisheye lenses are certainly very cool! I really like the effect here - the clouds look as if they are bearing down on the shed/pier, but the way the photograph is tilted makes it seem more like the clouds will slide away, leaving the structures intact. Now I read your artist's comments I see it slightly differently, but it's still awesome.

They provide a new perspective to things. It's just a matter of finding the subject matter that works best with it!

Your view is pretty awesome in itself! I quite like your interpretation.

Again, another piece I wonder what would look like if it did not have the adjustments.. But, nonetheless, a beautiful piece indeed.

3wyl In reply to A-M-A-P [2014-12-27 13:12:46 +0000 UTC]

Ah, this one I captured with a fisheye lens. There was no adjustment done. Like the other one, everything was done during execution via the lenses used.

Regarding how it would look like, it wouldn't look this circular. A fisheye lens converts straight lines into rounder lines. Therefore, the beach, pier, etc. would all be straightly laid out.

I liked that you flipped it side ways.
Great colours, lovely contrast too.
You used a fish eye lens, right?
I feel that you could have cropped a bit more at the right hand side (where the sea is) Not too much, you would want some sea there, but a bit, this would center the pier more. If this makes sense...

But who am I to lecture? Great shot in any case

Indeed I did use a fisheye lens for this piece.

I can see what you mean with the positioning.

I really love the way you have captured this photograph and how you have edited it i.e. post-processing to give it a more fluid and dynamic presentation. It is really good in my honest opinion and in its aporoch it portrays a circular perspective of what we often consider to be a "straight" bridge or plane. Its contrasting subject matter - the dock, the sky and the sea, make it food for thought as a photograph.

Its good. Honestly.

How do you mean post-processing to give it a more fluid and dynamic presentation?

Thank you for the comment.

Chezzy-Am In reply to 3wyl [2014-07-06 18:53:27 +0000 UTC]

either rotate it Or, if you like to keep it in this same angle it is already, then try to alter the sharpness a little (I guess around 10% of the original should work, although I'm not sure), but nothing else which I feel is particularly needed.

And the rotate it part was in jest. I read the author's description and I understand the point which is made. rotating it is the equivalent of taking the famous painting "Scream" and pasting the handsomesquidwardplz emoticon in the place of the main person. Which would be wrong on so many levels honestly

Again, just to clarify, I do like this photograph. I mean it - good photographs are a rarity even on dA. And yours are good - either in terms of their concept, or their execution, or even the way they are processed. So in that respect, you're a good inspiration - even if I don't always get your works, but still that point stands

Here's where one would wish to float. With the ground that tilted, who can stand still?
Intriguing photo I like the fisheye effect and the angle you gave it.
The sunlight makes it seem as if there was something falling through the pier.
