It was the first day of the Midwinter Obertaurer Show. Ace was relatively calm and relaxed, only someone who knew him for a long time could tell that he was actually quite nervous. He had gotten up early to take care of Zofie - who, on the other side, clearly showed her tension. She wouldn't stand still, always turning her head and whining whenever one of the other horses came close.
When for some time no horse went by she however calmed down a bit and lowered her head. Ace was lucky enough not to have that many horses come near her so he was able to groom her whilst she was taking a nap.
-but the suddenly her head shoot up and she was wide awake again. Ears turned into one direction she whined quietly before a loud snort of hers filled the morning air.
"There is no one there, Zofie, calm down", Ace said, not really paying attention to whatever Zofie had spotted.
He was wrong.
Because moments later he could hear it clearly as well. Hoof beats.
He peeked over the back of his mare to see a dark horse approaching them. And as he looked closer he could see that there was a woman running next that horse, not too excited about what her horse was doing.
Ace grabbed Zofies halter. "Well, that's a nice warm up", he chuckled as he was about to offer his help to the woman.
