Description This took way longer than I had anticipated... but finally I have these drawings done. Many other new assault rifle designs for the USN are on the way; I still got a lot of work to do.

1: F-70 Obsidian Gale - A distinctly blocky, multi-role assault rifle, the F-70 Obsidian Gale is a creatively named weapon of great value. Following similar design parameters to the F-15 Woodsman, the most immediately obvious aspect about the Obsidian Gale is the massive axe-like blade built into the weapon. Although not great for stabbing, the design of this blade combined with the heavy weight of the gun itself makes it excellent for limb-severing slashes and chops. Following this close range theme, the rifle has a secondary barrel, whereupon the weapon can fire medium-grade shotgun shells. Although longer ranged than a compacted shotgun attachment, this part of the weapon does not have quite the same reach as a genuine, purpose built shotgun. This is rarely an issue though, as this part of the rifle is designed for CQC action anyway. The fully automatic assault rifle part of the Obsidian Gale is pretty standard, firing medium-caliber high velocity projectiles with mild recoil, projectile spread, and range. The full value of this weapon is in it’s adaptability for nearly any combat scenario, from melee combat to mid-range engagements; this has made it quite popular amongst the USN’s Vanguard warriors. The only major downside to this weapon, besides a relatively high production cost, is it’s weight and arguably clunky design. For more specific statistics, the F-70 fires 8.4x35mm projectiles at 700 RPM with a muzzle velocity of roughly 1950 m/s, drawing from a 76 round magazine. The weapon can also hold 8 compact shotgun shells at a time. which must be loaded individually; the Gale fires these with a muzzle velocity of about 500 m/s.

2: G-85 Kronos - A lightweight and somewhat overlooked weapon design, the G-85 Kronos is nonetheless unique and effective. Undoubtedly the most distinctive (and somewhat controversial) part of the weapon is it’s long curved bayonet. Though the location of this blade is quite strange and requires some caution on the part of the user, it’s well designed for lighting fast, defensive attacks. This overall design was inspired by the brutal and many-bladed weapons of the Aligned Coalition of the Nethetch’e; an empire allied to Humanity. Beyond this, the G-85 Kronos deviates from the norm slightly by utilizing low caliber projectiles designed mainly for SMGs. The key to maintaining AR grade striking power is in the rifle’s higher-than-average muzzle velocity. The G-85 has a secondary underbarrel component as well, coming in the form of a directed EMP projector; though mostly incapable of harming a well armored opponent, this projector is extremely effective at damaging sensitive electronics and breaking plasma-shields. Another great alternative in close quarters combat. For more specific statistics, this fully automatic weapon fires 7.4x22mm projectiles at 750 RPM with a muzzle velocity of 2140 m/s, drawing from a magazine containing 84 rounds in all. The weapon’s underbarrel projector fires directed ionic pulses with an effective range of about 120 meters, and a semi-auto rate of fire around 180 RPM, drawing from a 20 shot battery. The Kronos also comes with a 1.5x to 2.5x holo scope.

So, number 1:

Where to hold rifle? Onehanded gun is un-ideal gun.

I suppose you could use it like giant punch dagger... Getting fairly GoW Ripper vibes from the thing.

It's a massive square. Stock is short as hecc, and the mag is awkwardly placed and shaped, making reloads somewhat more difficult.

It has no goddamn sights. Then again, in close, you don't need that much in sighting...

Second one, uh... Lethal buttstrokes? Your leverage is going to be pants, and you won't hurt them if you don't use it right. Also difficult reloads because cutting hand.

Micro missiles seems... overly complex. Maybe something like a good old USGL would do.

It does have the holy grail, a SIGHT, which is good.

M-70 is asthetic AF, G-85 just looks silly.

5/10, the briccness and the awkwardly placed bayonet just... ergh.

For the M-70, there's a large rectangular gap where an individual would grip the weapon with their second hand. It can't really be used for thrusting based attacks, as the frontal projection of the blade is far too short; it's meant instead for slashing and chopping motions, like a big axe. And yeah, it doesn't look pretty, but it was my intention from the beginning for it to turn out looking like a giant brick.

The G-85 is admittedly a bit strange, though that was also the intention. It's overall silhouette and design principles are the source of in-lore inspiration from a certain group of alien weapons, which are characterized by their ludicrous affinity for blades and pointy bits. I mention within the first few sentences that this is a controversial weapon that requires significant awareness and caution on part of the user.
Regardless, this is totally an unconventional rifle for what is, at the end of the day, a fictional setting in a distant future.

Stupid idea:
Ok, so you know how some guns you hold the weapon almost vertical and practically rip out the mag?
You whip some fucker with the blade, and then press a button for spring loaded mag eject to fire empty mag at them lel.

That is, indeed, one way the G-85 can be potentially utilized.
