I used to come and watch the meteor shower with my grandpa every year when I was a kid. We had a special spot deep in the woods where the light from the city didn't obstruct the view. For gramps it was like some weird romantic tragedy, stars falling from the heavens and burning up, ending their lives in one brilliant beautiful moment of final glory. I never really understood it but this year is the first time I've come here alone and for some reason the feelings it gave gramps, the look on his weathered tired face and glisten in her grey eyes it's overwhelming me right now. I miss him, and I realized tonight that he's the same as these stars. I'm just glad no one's around to see me cry like this.
