Description This is one of the reoccurring characters from my Star Wars Fanfiction series: Star Wars: The Shadow Wars. The series is currently between "Seasons."

Note: The information below is from my own universe which is a blend of old and new canon and it not to be considered canon in any other universe but mine.  I should also mention that this character is canon (at least Legacy Canon) but its history is significantly different as far as my universe is concerned.

"Analysis: IG-88, Assassin Droid, Class Four Droid, Moron. Threat Assessment: Annoyingly difficult to terminate. Four models acting as one unit. One unit confirmed destroyed. Three remain. Personal notes: Go scrap yourselves already!" - HK-47 regarding IG-88.

The infamous IG series assassin droids have cropped up every so often. It is known that there are at least four IG droids in existence, all with the same designation: IG-88 but with the added letter A, B, C, or D for easier identification twixt the four droids, at least among themselves.

IG-88A attempted to take control of the 2nd Death Star at Endor. It was IG-88A who slammed the turbolift doors in Galen Marek's face on his run for the Emperor's Throne Room. IG-88A's programming was destroyed with the destruction of the Death Star but his body was recovered by the other IG Assassin Droids who uploaded backups of their programming, effectively bringing IG-88A back to life. In 28 ABY, IG-88A answered an invitation by the Sith Empire to participate in a lucrative bounty. The target was the heiress to the throne of the Hapes Consortium: Tenel Ka Djo. IG-88A failed and was destroyed by his long time rival, fellow assassin droid: HK-47. His damaged and inactive body was seized by New Republic security but has since gone missing. It's theorized that the droid was "playing dead" and reactivated or was retrieved by the other two 88s.

IG-88B was destroyed during the hunt for Han Solo in 3 ABY by Boba Fett and his body ripped apart for scrap on Bespin. He is the only IG-88 droid confirmed destroyed.

IG-88C and IG-88D's whereabouts are unknown. Rumor circulated for a while that Boba Fett destroyed them both but this has since been proven false.

Regardless of whichever IG-88 is encountered, he is still extremely dangerous. It has recently been determined that IG-88 is acquainted with the 4000 year old assassin droid: HK-47, the two having the droid equivalent of a blood feud as IG-88 attempts to prove that his newer, more advanced, systems are superior to the aging 47's, while HK-47 views 88 as a mere pretender, that 47's 4 millennia's worth of experience grants him an undisputable edge over 88.
