Hi, I’m here from
.
I really like this character’s expression. It’s calm, ruthless, and very fitting for a dangerous woman.
The shading in her iris is absolutely beautiful, and you kept the light direction pretty consistent across the whole picture, which is something many artists forget to do.
The shoulder pads and the lights on her mask and arms add a cool touch to her outfit, though I’ll admit to being confused about the lights’ purpose. I can see why an artist would want to add them for extra coolness, but I’m curious about why the character chose to include them in her outfit.
The hairstyle looks really cool. Not something she’d be wise to wear into battle, but this picture makes it look more like she’s being briefed on an upcoming mission, and I like the rough and feral look it gives her.
I have a few pieces of advice and constructive criticism, and I hope you’ll find them helpful.
1. The outfit
The outfit looks pretty cool, but it doesn’t say “dangerous woman” to me. It says “video game ninja whose designers care more about making her sexy than they do about giving her an outfit a warrior would plausibly wear.”
As a storyteller, I tend to judge outfits in art by the standard of “is this something a character in that position would choose to wear?”
For example, at a beach, a party in a hot room, or a jogging track, baring the midriff and part of the chest makes sense. But why would a “dangerous woman”, whose mask and demeanor imply that she’s a fighter, choose a bared midriff and a cleavage window? The outfit doesn’t say “warrior”, but it also doesn’t look like something one would wear to blend in among civilians.
IMO, replacing the cleavage window with the symbol of her assassin organization and the bared stomach with a belt full of weapons would’ve conveyed the idea of a dangerous woman far more effectively.
Anatomy
The nose is way too low on her face, leaving a huge flat space between her eyes and the top of her nose.
If you’re going for realistic proportions, the head is too big for her body. If you’re deliberately making the proportions stylized, you can ignore the sentence before this one.
The abs look pretty good. I suggest adding a bit more detail to the bellybutton on pictures like this, to keep the level of detail and quality consistent between adjacent features.
Her arms are a bit too short for her torso. Here’s a picture of a woman in a similar pose for reference: c8.alamy.com/comp/EP1GNC/woman…
As you can see, that woman’s elbows are just below the deepest part of the inward curve of her sides, while your picture puts the elbows well above that point.
The background
The shade of the background fits the character and the intended mood really well. In the future, I suggest using a gradient instead of a flat color, to make it more visually interesting. In this case, for example, you could’ve started out with black at the bottom and then shifted to red at the top.
The shading
As I noted above, you’re pretty consistent with your light direction, which is great! A few tips to make your shading even better:
1. Use thinner vertical lines for the ring of light around her head, and make that ring darker or nonexistent on the shadowed side of her head.
2. Make the contrast between the lit and shadowed areas stronger for a more dramatic effect.
3. When you’re using soft shading on a round surface like a head, make the shade shift from light to shadow a bit more gradually, to show the shape’s slow curve away from the light source.
4. Don’t forget the lower body! From the top of her bared midriff down, there isn’t any noticeable light direction, and some shadows seem to be missing.
5. Eyelashes and sometimes eye sockets cast shadows on the top part of the eyeball, so don’t forget that.
That’s all I can think of for now. I hope it helps! You’re already off to a good start when it comes to drawing humans; there are just some areas that could benefit from being polished up.

This is a really nice drawing! I see a lot of potential in you! the colours look very nice, although you need work on your actual colouring. I see a LOT of white pixels in between the lineart and colouring that make the piece look incomplete. If you really want to get better at digital, I'd say to stop using DA muro. Try Medibang Paint instead. It's free and there are plenty of tutorials online.
Also, I have to say, there's a pretty common trend among new artists or artists just starting out drawing humans, and that's almost always drawing characters with their arms behind their backs and large side-bangs. If you feel like drawing more humans, I recommend reading what I have to say.
I feel like artists draw characters with their arms behind their back to avoid having to draw hands, and they give the character long side-bangs to avoid drawing a second eye. I see it almost all the time. Even I used to do this.
I'm gonna give you some advice, try and avoid this or other things like it, it can hinder your development and it limits how much you can practice.
I'm not saying to never draw characters in this certain pose, or to never draw characters with emo hair, I'm just saying don't fall into this trend of trying to avoid things that seem hard to draw.
If standing with their hands behind their back is a common thing the character does, it can be excused, but try drawing them at different angles and try not making the entire body face straight forward. It can make the character look very stiff.
And yes, I agree the eye looks very nice. The iris has very nice colours.
That's about all I have to say for now. Keep improving!
Hope to see you again sometime

I have to say, I have quite a thing for red-eyed dark-haired characters.
Your character here is very beautiful.

Reminds me of Raven from RWBY.

Can I redraw this? Also, I think that you could use Krita or any of the software noted in the last comment.

Alrighty. It isn't bad at all but for one, Deviantart Muro isn't necessarily the BEST art program to be using. I recommend a free art program instead, such as fire alpaca, or Medibang Paint. (I use fire alpaca so ) If you chose to use fire alpaca, it's great if you can take a picture of your artwork, post it on Deviantart, download it / save it, and then go to your art program and open that file as a layer. Then you can trace your artwork with like, a pen. In this picture it slightly looks like it's a possibility that you stole art.
Your shading is incredibly good, and yes the shading on the eye and breasts are really good. This isn't bad for a start. I hope that helps you :>
Have a lovely day. Keep up the good work.

Mhm! Yeah, D.A Muro isn't bad but it isn't necessarily the best.

By all means do more humans. Right now it looks like a cartoon character. Not bad for a start. Check out a few artbooks and books on Drawing Anime. If you can get "How To Draw Comics The Marvel Way by the late Stan Lee and John Buscema. you will find it very usefull to use. They will be a great help. You'll keep getting better as you go along.
