I recall similar experiences from the times when I've worked with water colour, so I wish you all the best in taming this beast.
I'm interested in seeing what a revised design looks like and to be honest I keep forgetting that purple is considered a royal/upper class colour so it makes sense he'd wear that with gold considering what you've told me so far.

Ahh my misunderstanding. I think having a "fluid design" is a better way of handling it, especially if the story involves the character exploring different terrains and environments.

You did this in water color? I love your color selection! And goodness the designs on his clothes and gauntlets. Is it inspired by Assassin's Creed?

lol
Yes, I did! Crazy, I know. I took my sweet time with it too, as I always do.
Ah, AC. I was not inspired directly, as in, no references were used, but yes, in many ways I can see that I was influenced through osmosis, ha ha. There is so much fantastic art for that series that I've clearly been effected and will go back to the drawing board.

Thank you! I'm so pleased with how the palette came out. Colour selection is the thing I struggle most with.

Awww, thanks! I'm pleased actually, with how the details turned out considering how temperamental watercolours can sometimes be.

It is! And thank you! I drew this due to your comment about him looking mean in a previous piece. Ha ha. Though the expression on his face in this is more one of alarm (OMG, I gotta kill him before he kills me!!!) than ferocious hardened warrior.
As to the man, who started this combat armed and is now not so much, he's a member of an opposing faction in a five-way turf war. The blue stuff in Naomhin's hand is supposed to be a gathering of frost. He really likes elemental novas, orbs of pure energy, to inflict damage. Just one of the tricks up his sleeve. Anyway, I need to work on rendering magic and other such effects more clearly.

I am so-so-SO sorry, but from the first time I saw this artwork I think that his costume is similar with Assassin Creed (even though I'm not really familiar with that game... game just not really my area. but that game is really popular, especially on internet) I think perhaps you draw it... unconsciously? and more to define the royal blood where he came from; judging from the purple, gold, and all beautiful details on his clothes (from time to time, purple and gold always identic for something rich, expensive, and royal)
the pose is just WOW! I bet it's not something easy to draw (and you nailed it, by the way!)
and honestly, it's little bit of surprise that you draw him in this pose, especially because the last conversation we have about him, you mentioned that he is not really a fan of man-to-man combat

Wow his pose is fantastic, and so full of energy, I also love the angle you chose to draw this at, it's like we're either going to get zapped with that victim, or he's come to rescue us (I love how the guy's sword is flying out of his hand lol arrghh! Wait I changed my mind, I'm a good guy now, don't kill me)
I loooove how opulent his outfit is, with the gilding and those gauntlets with the gem - he's like a posher more glittery and magical versian of one of the assassins from assassin's creed (sorry, I hate it when people mention stuff like that, and here I am doing it)

Oh. My. God. It DOES! Well that's a little embarrassing. The hood, for certain. And the white. I hadn't thought much while I was drawing it. I love the idea of a mage in robes, without getting all Hogwarts or sorcerer's apprentice-y. This man would never be caught dead in a housecoat in public! I wanted something that looked a little more put together and stately. As to the posh and the opulence... he's the third son of a Duke and a court darling until his luck decides to take a vacation so his expensive taste comes naturally.

I'll admit that the games were exciting when they first came out, however I'm not a fan anymore as I think they just made too many, and they're all pretty much the same in the end, they get repetative (though my mum bought me two and I feel bad because I haven't played them that much for the reasons above) - but you know I laughed at the AC set in the US Civil War era...I mean there's this guy running around in a white hood and coat that doesn't fit with the era, and he's meant to be an assassin doing stealth assassinations and such - well you kind of stand out a little fella, galloping through confederate and unions soldiers lol - make an effort to blend in
Lol give him a wand too! Wingardium leviosa! *enemy floats off* I imagine the poor enemy to try clinging to the ground as he's borne into the air beneath the might of such a mighty spell!
Well you'd be surprised, if you feel you look good then you have boosted self esteem, so maybe he feels that the better he looks, the higher people will think of him - and he's noble, they gotta look noble, not like bumpkins with hay in their hair lol - otherwise no one would believe you when you say stuff like "get out of my way, you stinking peasant, don't you know who I am? I'm a Duke!" pah, duke of the haystack maybe *peasant cackle*
I missed my calling as a common wench you know.
It's a tough old life isn't it

You know, I was sort of wondering the same thing. How secret an assassin organization are you if you have a logo and standard issue costume?? I at least had logic behind this design!
"Calling as a common wench..." LOL

I was discussing it with my twin, and she has the theory that they're so well-known that they no longer have to hide, because people instantly recognise them and know they're dead, and no one would dare go against them - I still retain my belief that...a little covert sneaking about would make them more frightening than some big old organisation - where's the mystery in that!
Lol yeah i like your idea more, it makes so much more sense (I mean especially since in AC Black Flag, there's this French guy who goes around killing assassins....yeah just walk around dressed like one, it's not like he'll ever notice!)
It's true!

Yeah, I am totally with you on this one. The original assassins had such a fear grip on the populace that just the threat of murder was enough without anyone even having to see them. Because no one knew where or when they would strike or who was a member made them all the more terrifying.
