Ah, thank you. Her colours really aren't quite right but I'm going to pull the artistic liberty card. I only suspect a small handful of folks will truly notice the flaws (the people who REALLLLLLY like pacrim) and the rest will just go "Oh look, isn't that Otachi?"  or "I know that thing, I just can't remember what it's called!"

I think he might just be doing the basic outer look, I doubt very much we'll do the opening face thing (we're really not all that skilled and this is his first costume. He doesn't like me to help much, he likes to do things his own way). But I'd just love for him to finish and have us tromping around together

That would be cool Perhaps you could try Leatherback or Slattern next time. Those two are less complex since they are built for brute force.

Might be one for my Husband to try. I HATE leatherback with a passion. Hate, hate, hate. Big dumb gorilla   I was originally going to do knifehead or axehead, only because Otachi is really a Quad. I decided I could squeek by making Otachi is flight form to avoid a quadsuit  -I'm REALLY not in good enough shape to even wear one let alone attempt to make one- Slattern actually looks really complex, that there tail O.o;  What I REALLY wanted to do was a godzilla...but there are so many AMAZING Godzilla costumes, I couldn't honestly make one without comparing myself to the amazing ones already out there and I'd never end up happy with my own work. Part of why I picked Otachi was at the time there were no costumes of her. Since then there was one pop up at DragonCon which was a really creative dress style. I felt happy as it's still the same character but a different take on how to do the costume.  I tend to put myself down a lot so not having anything to compare myself to allows me to just be myself and do what I want vs. trying to match what already exists.

That's cool. If you are looking for established Kaiju there is Onibaba ( the crab from Mako's memory) and Karlof from tails from year zero.

Honestly, the only reason i'm making a Kaiju is because the Theme at the larger con in my area, Anime Boston has a theme of Kaiju Vs. Mecha. Otherwise I was actually going to make an Arakkoa costume from World of Warcraft. That costume has been pushed back so I could make a kaiju to go with the theme.
