Description Hey, everyone! This is part of love-new-artists' monthly theme, this time being mythical creatures! My personal favourite mythical beast is the basilisk (though some could argue that this guy is a cockatrice). The yellow grass and dead spotted hyena are there due to the basilisk being said by the Greeks to be from Ethiopia. The hyena is also there to demonstrate how the basilisk kills (using its very gaze to butcher prey). My inspirations for this basilisk came from the original myth (a snake with the head of a cockerel), the dinosaurs Acrocanthosaurus and Protoceratops and odd depictions of dromaeosaur dinosaurs in fiction (the reason why I chose so many dinosaurs for inspiration is because the mix of feathers and scales on the mythical basilisk remind me of dinosaurs, though I just realised the irony in that statement due to my basilisk not actually having any feathers). I hope you guys like this scaly gentleman!
