Description .

She won't escape from the darkness entwined with this melody,
slowly meandering streams full of elegant ebony.
I can imagine she drowns in its musical energy,
and see her regrets disappear in oblivious ecstasy.

Yes, mine too. Cheers!

Lang geleden! Gaat niet zo denderend hier. Ziekte van Pfeiffer en al, studie ligt stil, dat soort ellende. Hoe is het met jou?

An extremely true thought concerning music, it is.

Of course it all depends on the kind of music you're listening to. I probably wouldn't describe, say, Britney's last album like this

What music in those rhymes! I can relate to the darkness and oblivion, but not to wishing from escaping from drowning in music. Just that there is some music so depressed and painful that it doesn't bring sweet oblivion. This poem expresses just what music means to me!

Sorry for taking so long to comment back...

Yes, I already suspected you could relate very well to these feelings. The direct cause for me writing this was my girlfriend who sometimes listens to Virgin Black's Requiem all day long. Now, that album is already slightly unhealthy to listen once, let alone all the time. So excruciatingly beautiful and so, so incredibly dark. I don't think you know Virgin Black, but on the other hand I doubt it'd be good for you.

Yes! How I recognise this!
Music can pull and drag, and at the same time lull you. Like the snake that hypnotises you and then strikes without regret.
I await the next lines...

Cheers. Next lines might take a while

Bittersweetly fitting.
Why is that music seems to soothe as well as excite so much better than naked words can?

Oblivion, you say. We must never forget, though, that music is also nepenthe's antidote. It can soothe and make us forget, but at the same time, it can be the ragged nail ripping the scabbed wound wide open again.

Catharsis can swing both ways: oblivion, or obliteration.

You've made my mind spin circles on itself with this one, buddy!

Hope this finds you well.

Hugz

Very true! That's why there's the reference to drowning and not being able to escape from it. It is especially darker music that can achieve both sides: the painful and the comforting one. But perhaps it's time for another four lines that describe the painful other side?
