Description A second entry for the contest at: #Baten-Kaitos-Club .

The challenge of the contest is to pay homage to your favorite worlds in Baten Kaitos games. For this one, I chose Duhr - the lands under the toxic clouds. (most of the game takes place above the clouds.)

The girl here is Mizuti, a Child of the Earth. Her people used to be great wizards, but life under the toxic clouds weakened their powers.
Mizuti is a rare throw-back; a very powerful wizard. She even floats!

This picture was made in only a few hours, which is rare for me. Usually I spend weeks on my pictures.

I like this because it's different from your other pictures. The techinque is different. And I like how you did it in practically one color.

There are faces in the rocks... That's really creepy. I think your means of coloring the picture was really fitting, however. Makes me feel all murky and sapped of energy myself. Very effective (or affective? I have no idea). I've never played the game, but I did the next best thing--Google Image Search. So, now I can say I really like how you drew Mizuti.

Aww, Mizuti. XD
This, you made in just a few hours? Duuuuude. That is sick! It looks brilliant!
I must say that the rough, sketchy lines of this piece (as opposed to the smooth lining in i.e. "Lost&Found") look really neat, too. The roughness fits with the atmosphere in Duhr.

Awesomely done!

For this style of coloring I never clean up my pencil linework.

This is gorgeous. How did you colour it? It looks so soft...

You mean, besides doing it in photoshop?
Well, the easy way of doing it is: cover the whole canvas in a dark color, and then add highlights to bring out the details.

Oh wow - so you still used Photoshop for this? Aawesome. I find blending is sometimes a bit dodgy with PS myself - but I think that is because I use a very very very old version! Mine is Elements 2.0 which is the 2002 edition. Ancient times!

No, I have the old photoshop elements 2.0 as well, it is possible to do soft shading in it. Try making a layer and setting it to multiply, then using a light color, like light grey, and a brush with opacity and size both checked in pressure sensitivity then shade like that, The same goes for high lights which you can do in the same way, only shade the whole thing and erase the highlights or make the second layer style Screen and using a dark color and the same brush, paint in te highlights. You can check any of my own deviations to see howmy style compares to this one... If you have any questions, feel free to ask me. I've spent the last 3 years using Photoshop Elemnts 2.0... even though I own Photoshop elements 7.0... 2.0 is pretty much the same, 0.7 just has more specific buttons and more filters. It's versions like photoshop CS1-CS4 that get complicated.

True that - I have Photoshop 7 and CS1, but I actually still prefer Elemements for its simplicity. Cheers for the tip - I should try it out. I'm gonna go have a look at your work...:3
