Description First of all, this was inspired by something that happened in-game: you know how, upon reaching a particularly impressive location/area, companions will cry out "Wow! That's impressive!", "By the Nine!" and so on? Well, it just so happened that Kate expressed her awe at the exact same moment Dorian stealthily dispatched a bandit as he is about to in the above drawing, so it sounded as though she was impressed by his mad assassin skillz instead.

Now, the backstory...

Dorian Valtieri talked his way into the College of Winterhold and was granted access to its resources, a privilege normally restricted to members, under one condition: that he agreed to assist in various matters the residents couldn't, or wouldn't deal with themselves. One such matter was retrieving the lost writings of Shalidor, a famously powerful mage from the First Era, which languished in a Bandit chief's treasure chest and Urag gro-Shub wanted back. Citing the importance of having a College representative present (in reality, there was a more...personal interest behind that decision), Katarina joined him and discovered a previously unknown side to the self-styled scholar. She had never seen anyone move the way he did, blending from shadow into shadow with liquid speed as he stalked his targets undetected, felling them one by one with expert slashes of his two swords. It was almost like watching a dance - a lethal dance - and Kate, who was by no means clumsy, felt as though she had all the grace of an ornery Mammoth by comparison.

One thing was abundantly clear: Dorian Valtieri was more than a mere "scholar"...

Yes, assassinating someone can be sexy, too And Dorian surely looks very elegant how he is about to do so I would be staring in awe like Kate is, too
And you also did a great job on the atmosphere here with the shading and background, especially how Dorian is standing in the shadow while the bandit is all lit up, but still the direction of the viewers attention is drawn to Dorian and secondly noticing Kate in the back.

Thanks! I wanted to show him leaping out of the shadows, silent and unseen, while that Bandit was none the wiser. That's pretty much how he went through the entire game when I played him Story-wise though, he was an acrobat in his youth which helped him with his later...profession. He enjoyed it, too, elevating it to an art-form, almost (he's not one of those assassins worshipping Sithis/the Night Mother, he does it for the thrill of it and the gold. He has expensive tastes). And maybe, just maybe, he was showing off a little to Kate here

"Maybe"? But now I am curious about his "expensive tastes" !
I like his character over all! Seems to be a very interesting man with many facets!

Thanks, I'm glad you think so! He's one of my favorite characters. And well, he likes the finer things in life, despite his humble origins: food, drink, clothing, accomodations. He enjoy spending gold as much as he enjoys earning it, so the fact that elite assassins get paid well suits him just fine.

Thank you! I need a short break now though. Two weeks of nearly non-stop drawing are beginning to tell, lol.
