Now that school is starting, I thought I'd do a mini series of back to school images with my personifications. :'DThe cuneiform on her tablet says "turn" or "return" (as in "return to school")
School in Sumeria
Of course, only boys could attend Sumerian school. Girls were educated at home. The boys typically came from wealthy families and were educated in reading, writing, and arithmetic. They were sent early in the morning to the temple to copy tablets in cuneiform under the supervision of their "school father", and were beaten if they made a mistake. Doing well in school would mean a secure and fruitful adulthood.

I have no idea how they write those strange...letters?

They used a wedge-shaped stylus: the thick end was shaped like a triangle so it was easy to stamp out letters.
Of course since this picture is chibi, her stylus is actually much smaller than the words. XD;;
