Ok, this is my first submission so I have no idea what I'm doing!!um... This is a drawing I did of a sketch of Princess Leia in Art of Star Wars Return of the Jedi... It's basically just graphite pencil and there's no fancy shading or anything

When I drew it (6 months ago), I considered it a portrait, and still do. It is a portrait of Princess Leia, done with a reference. Perhaps not uber detailed, but I was just starting out. I didn't quite yet understand the concept of shading. So for my knowledge of drawing and my skill level at the time, this was my attempt at a portrait. (Practically my first) Frankly, I would *never* submit anything into fan art. Anything submitted there is immediately swallowed in a morass of crappy anime sketches. And I don't think this is crappy. Simple, yes, but still well done.

I'll give you that. And i do agree that fan art is like a cancer in DA... it's still fan art though

Of course it's fan art! Almost anything could be called fan art, if you like the subject you're drawing/painting/whatever. But there are other considerations. My Arwen is fan art too, but she's not going in the fan art section either

Hehehehe very true... maybe they should put deviants in fan art categories too? Y'know this has inspired me - i'm going to make a few pictures of fans. (like blowing fans) or even a crowd at a sports event or something --- and submit it in Fan Art hehehe :rotfl:

i really like this linework. it makes me think of norse artwork or the celtic line style. pleasing to the eye.

hmm...I like it, nice crisp clean line art ^^ And with no smudges, you are good. I like her hair and its little hairpiece there. And I do think you could shade it, I've seen some of your other stuff, you'd make this look gooood... ^^

lol, Yeah, I'm a fan of a lot of stuff. I've actually found that a lot of Star Wars fans are also fans of Lord of the Rings

Ooh, yes, yes! That's definatly the princess! Very nice lineart, especially on the face there. I think it would look wonderful colored or shaded!

I colored her with pencils and with pastels and didn't like the result of either (I did this on photocopies) so I think I'm going to keep the original just plain pencil
