Description ¡Y continuamos con los monstruos marinos!

And we continue with the sea monsters! Although this one seems to have lived in freshwater.
Heterosteus was a gigantic placoderm fish that lived during the Devonian and could grow up to six meters long. It had a relatively flattened body and had curious eyes at the end of stalk-like projections. It is possible that it hunted near the bottom or even buried in it.

I'm just waiting to see either Helicoprion, Atopodentatus, Elasmosaurus, Falcatus, Pterygotus, or Titanicthys

From that view this fish, it looks like a wobbegong shark.

Nice to see old Dunk the Diver taking it easy for one; that Adrenaline Junkie will be the death of himself! (Not today, though).

I really do love the colour of the water in this illustration; it's wonderfully crystalline and allows us an excellent look at this sea beastie with the wonderfully goggly B-Movie eyes.

It kinda looks like some crossbreed between a manta ray & a whale shark.

The patterns on its body looks like that of the Sailfin Pleco Suckermouth Catfish. Was this intentional or is it just coincidence. From the thumbnail, I thought this was a gigantic prehistoric species of Pleco Catfish haha. Which would be awesome if ever fossils of one are to be discovered since the largest species today are around 27 to 39 inches long which are still  pretty huge.

I wasn´t looking at any photos of it but I did have a general idea in my mind of an Amazonian catfish as I painted it! I always thought those fish were pretty cool. And who knows! Surely there must have been lots of prehistoric catfish we still don´t know about- they are a hugely succesful group.

If a gigantic species of prehistoric Pleco/Loricariid catfish really did exist during Earth's past, I reckon they might jhave evolved to a larger size as defense against giant crocodilians. I've read they already existed at the same time as Purussaurus and that fossils of this fish are rather rare so a hypothetical giant pleco catfish is indeed possible.
Also, this hypothetical species might give you ideas in your drawings in the future hehe.

A gigantic prehistoric pleco would probably be a tough cookie to crack if seized in the jaws of any giant crocodilian.Aside from their armor plating, they also have those spikes on the dorsal and pectoral fins as well as spikes located under each I. As someone who once owned a pleco, being stuck by those spines is not a pleasant experience. The one I had was a small specimen but it still hurt like hell haha.
