And so, I went to Norway. After all this time, after five damn years and three damn years later than it should have been. So very very much needed. And of course, as I go to Norway, I bring gifts, because is just what I do.
Drawing siderians have always been extremely pleasant to me, even natural in some way, ever since I found Jayme.... which however in light of recent events only makes all the more sense. Expect them to own a significant part of my gallery in the future as well. Especially the Sætansens, of course.
Speaking of the Sætansens....
This is Torstein. Torstein has been quite prominently around Jayme, to say the least, the many recent snapshots from his life and spirit testify of it quite unambiguously. And so I decided to draw him a portrait for Jayme, not only because of this but also because of some past tensions.... past indeed. But also because.... I wish to get to know him more. I know his story, I've seen quite a lot, Jayme has shared so much, yet despite that and the fact he says I captured him quite well in this portrait, I still feel as though my knowing of him is somewhat.... superficial. I feel there is far, far more deeper down, far more to explore, some day. But for now this was my way to give them both something beautiful and an attempt to feel more of him. I think I did. I am rather happy with how this portrait turned out. Of course, what makes me immeasurably happier is how much Jayme loved it.
And so, Torstein stands on a mountain somewhere, in a tiny streak of bright sunlight amidst a raging blizzard - maybe this is quite fitting as well - simply enjoying the Elements, BREATHING. I tried to capture in a drawing the feeling of being ALIVE. I think that does it.
