Description
Hiccup didn’t see why a rainy day should stop her from going out to play. It was a warm summer rain, and it wasn’t like rain would smear her make-up! She put on her green slicker, funny galoshes, a plastic hat and went to splash in the puddles. She brought Mr. Flibble, her toy penguin, since he rarely got to play outside.
Hiccup sang as she danced in the rain. She jumped in puddles and giggled at the splash. She saw a rivulet of rainwater race by in the gutter. What a wonderful place for Mr. Flibble to go for a ride! Hiccup put the toy penguin on the rivulet and ran along side as it drifted down the street. Hiccup was giggling so much at the sight of Mr. Flibble moving faster than he ever had that she didn’t notice the storm drain it was heading towards. She tried to grab her penguin, but it slipped from her fingers.
“You lose something, little girl?”
Hiccup jumped in shock at the sight of an adult clown in the storm drain. “Who (hic) are you?” she asked.
“The name’s Pennywise.” he said with a smile. His teeth looked unusually sharp. “And you, my dear?”
“My (hic) name is (hic) Hiccup!” she said. “Are you from Happy Town? I haven’t met (hic) many adult (hic) clowns.”
“Oh, I’m from another land of clowns.” Pennywise said. “But me and my friends; Bobble, Art and Captain Spaulding are here in this world for much the same reason you are!”
“Really?” Hiccup asked. “You’re here to spread (hic) joy and (hic) laughter?”
“Of course!” Pennywise said. “In fact, my friend Bobble has a TV show where he reaches out to a world of little kids who need to learn to spread happiness in a way that grown-ups just can’t. He’s sure more children might watch his show if it included a clown child. Would you be interested?”
“Would I?” Hiccup giggled and hiccupped all at once. “Ooh, I’d (hic) love too! Can I (hic) sing?”
“Oh, you’ll sing, Hiccup.” Pennywise assured her. “We’ll all sing! Come to the abandoned warehouse on the corner of Gacy Street and Kelly Avenue.”
“OK.” said Hiccup. “Can I (hic) have (hic) Mr. Flibble back?”
“Of course, my dear.” Pennywise returned the toy. “And look, I’ve put some wheels and a little string on Mr. Flibble so he can’t get lost again. And here.” A red, heart-shaped balloon floated out of the storm drain. “A little present just for you, my dear Hiccup.”
“Gee, thanks! See you (hic) later, Mr. Penny!” Hiccup said, running off.
“I could have eaten her.” Pennywise acknowledged. “But this could be what I need to bait more children to prey on!”
(Hiccup is probably 6 or 7 years old. Not much older than Georgie Denbrough.)
Tomorrow: Sailor Moon goes on a killing spree! Prince Diamond shippers are going to hate it, but it shows why this pairing is so toxic.
I might skip the Mature tag since the horror here is in the anticipation.
