Description Ok... I have been gone for a while. I just needed a break.

I've always wanted to render one of those cat girls dressed in traditional Japanese clothing... so I did! Somehow she ended up with a slightly evil feel to her. Yes, that is a barbed wire collar she is wearing.

Awesome kitty! Love her skin-texture and costume and all. I found an Aiko3 Kimono but it just doesn't work as well as I'd hoped, this one looks awesome.

Wow, that is quite an interesting piece. Kinda freaks me out a bit, especially the eyes. It's a great image, don't get me wrong.

Did you paint the clothing yourself, cause they look awesome. It's a very cool piece all in all.

Lokai2000 In reply to Othello-3D [2007-08-09 19:42:09 +0000 UTC]

Thanks.

The clothing is not painted. It is the result of a cloth simulation. It is an actual 3D model.

The "silk" like effect comes from using angle of incidence (aoi) shader nodes. It is kind of like an edge blend on steroids.

Very nice. IBL lighting?

Lokai2000 In reply to toasterkat [2007-08-09 12:51:26 +0000 UTC]

The lighting was generated by the PIBL code I wrote (which is image based). I really need to release the new version sometime....

Looks good. Much better than most IBL AO sets I have seen.

Gotta say I'm always at odds over textured fur vs all the other methods.

Wow, she is quite interesting to look at. So, I gotta ask, is that aoi all over her kimono? It looks amazing. How do you do it? Gimme code!!

Why yes.. it is aoi. I suspect you are the only person here that knows what that means.

very nice detail; i especially love the detail/pattern in the clothing. She looks like she's ready to claw out someone's eyes. haha. Maybe she's a traditional japanese cat assassin? haha.

That's quite a different kind of catgirl, more like an anthro kind. Where did you find the kimono? I was looking for something like that for one of my trade arts last week. ^^

Lokai2000 In reply to ken1171 [2007-08-09 00:20:13 +0000 UTC]

I found it at the Japanese poserclub site. They have lots of kimono and furisode outfits. I had to work through some translation software to figure out how to sign up to the place though. Kururu is available there as well.

I have an account and site at PoserClub but I can't manage to get logged in anymore.
Consequently the download section doesn't let me get anything.
I rememeber it had always been complicated to DL from that site...
