Description
This is the Slavic goddess Baba-Yaga, the goddess of Death. She's quite scary... her gaze can turn mortals to stone, her teeth are long knives, and she lives in a house of skeletons, which also has a fence of skulls with glowing eyes. Some sources say she is dressed in a long red dress and has big, dark wings. She is not someone you would want to meet in a dark alley!

She is my entry for HiddenYume-stock 's "Awaken the Goddess Contest." I used their stock photo [link] as a reference for the pose (though I turned it around first). Most of the information about Baba Yaga came from [link] .

I added the mask with the spider on it because I felt it made her more creepy and mysterious... but there's been some debate over whether or not she should have a face. Any thoughts?

Painted almost entirely with watercolors (bit of acrylic for spiderwebs) on Arches hot press paper, original is 9 by 12 in.
