Since I emptied a large portion of my savings into Proko's anatomy and figure drawing courses (they're expensive but worth it) I'd wanted to get back into trying to draw the effect of realistic humans interacting with cartoon characters. A couple of months ago I found out about a horror game in production that, in a nutshell, is about an animator bringing his 1930's cartoon characters to life; only for things to go horribly wrong. I don't know exactly what. Currently the game leaves a lot to the imagination.

This strip isn't so much based on the game as it is based on the huge fanbase taking the characters and rearranging them into different storylines. I'm trying to keep it accessible to people who aren't familiar with the source material.

While doing this I've learned a heap of time-saving techniques in Clip Studio Paint. When I get myself more organised I might be churning these kinds of strips out more often. And it's amazing how much smaller the file size is when you don't have colour.

I think that you might like what Game Theory did on the subject too. They deduced that the history and inspiration behind the game might be something to do with what you're tying to do with this picture. If nothing else I'd say it's an interesting watch so I'll just leave a link for it.

Me personally I really like your line art and the traditionally harsh punch line like you'd get in a lot of classic old cartoons (heck even Animaniacs had a lot of humor like that x3). What I'm saying of course is it's funneh!

Thanks. It means a lot.

I've watched Game Theory's take on the game. Been waiting ages for them to do something on Bendy. I never thought about it the way they did and it makes a lot more sense now. I always thought the game was connected to Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks and their falling out, but maybe not.

Still wondering why a AAA developer didn't come up with this idea. Then we could have gotten the whole game at once, but it might have been a first-person shooter instead.

Nah, my fears with it having been a triple A game would more be that they would try and split it up into even more parts. It's a much more common thing for folks to release games in parts whether it be in series like Bendy's or just by adding DLC to it later (or the one that's actually terrible, cutting off parts that are already done to be sold later or for Pre-Order DLC). What I'm saying is the best chance it would have as a AAA game is under the work of Traveler's Tales, and even they might have botched the idea up a good amount. Not to say that Bendy is a perfect game so far, but I would say it probably would've been worse being made in that kind of environment.

I think they're theory on it makes a good amount of sense though. It's also interesting to note that an affiliate of theirs, Gaijin Goomba, also did a segment on Bendy's likely creature origins that doesn't really conflict with MatPat's theory. I recommend checking that out as well if you have the time sometime. =3

Thanks. I think I've heard of Gaijin Goomba.

Yeah I didn't think about the DLC possibility. It's happening a lot with commercial games lately.
