(They're in a carriage, if you couldn't tell. I've never drawn the inside of a carriage before, so if it looks like some weird coffin thing, my bad.)

A road trip with Erik is probably Nadir's worst nightmare. Here's the scenario I imagined:

After years of dealing with Erik and his Erik-shenanigans, Nadir is fed up. Done. Ready to throw up his hands in defeat and relocate to Barbados. Rent a nice hut there, chill on the beach, walk around barefoot, sip a pina colada.

Of course, he can't do that because Erik would probably follow him and pull the whole, "Stop meddling in my business" thing, even though Nadir's an ocean away and isn't doing any more meddling, thank you very much.

So instead of the beach life, Nadir decides it would be pointless to leave, anyway, because Erik would just show up no matter where he went.

Including in the carriage Nadir hired. Nadir would stroll out to his courtyard, see the cabby and the carriage, and relax slightly, knowing a ride through the countryside will do him some good. Upon opening the door, he does not see a cheery empty cabin, but an opera ghost-filled one. Resulting in a conversation that would go something like this:

Nadir: Oh, what--Erik, what are you doing here?
Erik: Lovely new fez, Nadir, it camouflages your balding head quite nicely.
Nadir: I hired this brougham for one person. One. That person being myself.
Erik: Take care to draw the curtains when you step inside: the windows are far too transparent for my liking.
Nadir: Get out.
Erik: I take it you had an unpleasant sleep last night. No matter. I have business to discuss with you, and that should clear your head.
Nadir: Get out.
Erik: Now really, Daroga, how are we to discuss the aforementioned business if you refuse to step inside?
Nadir: There is no business. There will not be any more business. I did not hire a cab to listen to you bemoan society's mores: I hired a cab to see the country, something that will be impossible to do if the curtains are drawn and you are here.
Erik: I am fond of the country. Why would you assume I would inhibit your ability to see the country?
Nadir: Because I cannot concentrate on the landscape when there is an endless diatribe carrying on next to me! I want peace! I want quiet! I want--
Erik: Oh, do get in the brougham, Nadir, and cease your caterwauling. Really. It makes you look like an overgrown, bearded child.
Nadir: You--
Erik: *pulls out and points to his pocket watch* Now look here, Nadir, we've already wasted precious seconds arguing. Unlike you, I have a schedule to attend to, and I do not wish to tarry because you are unhappy with the seating arrangements.
Nadir: *gets in, slams door*

And then the dialogue in the picture takes place.

Nadir needs a drink.

NOW.

("Sherry, Daroga?"
"NO."
"That is fortuitous, because I seem to have only brought one glass. A pity. You are rather amusing when you are intoxicated. Take the shah's 36th birthday celebration--"
"Oh, shut up.")
