A commission for of her character Vida.I always freak myself out when it comes to black characters. (This, of course, has nothing to do with ethnicity and everything to do with the actual color black.) They present certain challenges that others don't, and I never think myself up to the task. While I'm sure it could be done better by an artist with more experience and expertise, I am pretty happy with how it turned out.
And then there's that skirt. I want you to look at that thing as close as you can. Each one of those folds and panels has a different design on them. It was a new level of detail for me ... but most of you know how, deep down, I really like that kind of thing anyway.
I like Vida. ~Corkscrewlu put so much love and time into her, and that really does mean something ... especially when it comes to drawing her. I wanted very much to live up to and do right by all that had gone into her before she came to my commission list.

You've combined her strength,femininity and felinity all together with a great balance. Those eyes are beautiful. And then there is the costume.What a gorgeous design and major kudos to you for painstakingly doing all those panels in that skirt. I did look. And not one of them repeated. The oriental styledesign on that top is something else too.
Vida is your second dark skinned commission it would seem in such a short period of time. So even though you say you lack experience, both characters turned out fantastic. I don't think Vida looks flat or undershadowed at all.Especially in her face. There is still enough depth and hints of where the hills and valleys of the face lie.
