Honestly, I don't think so highly of Maine. Meta, yeah, he was a near unstoppable killing mission; but I really didn't see him as too far a threat. But that's my own theory behind that.

...What? You don't see the guy that killed Tex to be a threat?...I really have to dissagree.
He survives everything...Sure, he can be knocked down easily by people such as Tex, although that doesn't stop him from getting right back up. All he needs is that one opening, and that's it, he has you.
Let's not forget that Maine (When he wasn't the Meta), in the snow fight, was the target to all of Tex's equipment that she stashed.
He was blown up at the start of the fight by planted bombs, shot at with an assault rifle and a battle rifle, shot at by a turret, stashed on the stomach and chest by a knife, and stabbed in the spine. To that all off, he shrugs every hit he takes off like it's nothing and then shoots an explosive on the ground where he gets just as much damage dealt on him, although he doesn't even get hurt...After being stabbed in the spine (Which would paralyze/kill anyone else) he just lifts his head up and stares a Tex as if to say "My turn".
He took a freakin energy sword through the chest! Tex got shot in the arm and was down for five minutes, Carolina hit into a wall and was down for about three minutes, Maine gets shot with turrets, shotguns, stabbed with energy swords and so much more, and he doesn't even flinch!
How you view Maine as "not a threat" is something I really can't understand, especially when he killed Tex, someone that was better than Carolina...

Killing Tex wasn't at the core that hard a job. It wasn't the first time she died, and as we learned she's doomed to failure in a grander scheme; such as how that fight was built. No need to mention the fact that Wash was helping. Though he didn't help kill her, he helped diminish her resources to fight with.
And yes, he's hard to kill. But that's all I'll give him. Hard to kill. He doesn't seem to have much fighting ability other then great strength. He seemed to virtually flail through the fight when he was helping Carolina while the other soldiers were easily beating him even though beating him is near impossible since he won't stay down. But you could say the same about a cockroach; hard to kill, keeps coming back, and pretty much bound to be the last one standing if it came down to stripped combat. This may be attributed to what his enhancement could be, or perhaps that he has stone like pain resistance.
Over all, I think he's troubling and a tough enemy, but I wouldn't say he's 100% capable without his AIs or collective enhancements.
Even though many have reasons for and against it; I stand by one crucial fact. As it stands, only two Freelancers are known to be alive. Wash and Carolina. Wash because he played it smart and took an opening to get out of everything; and Carolina because... well we'll see soon enough.

Actually, she was killed by Donut before with a sniper shot.
That was more of a description of Charch's knowledge on her, you can't really say it's something that happens all the time.
Wash didn't really help, he was just more so involved. Tex easily discarded him when he came into contact. Considering Tex had the element of suprise and all the equipment she had on her, including all the skill she has, it's fair to say that she had the upper hand.
He's hard to kill, that's all he needs. Alot of people don't seem to realize that endurance is the best thing to have in combat. It was Maine's endurance that got him the Tex kill. When someone that is highly skilled and highly equiped with weapondry is beaten by someone with superhuman endurance, then it's evidence enough that endurance can be far more better than any amount of speed someone can have.
I have to just mention the flaw of season 9 in subject to Maine not being so great in the season. If you take into notice that every female character in that show (even if they aren't ranked vetter than the males n the freelancer top five chart) the female does 10X better. This isn't suggesting all females are better than all the males in the show, because York was the highest male to begin with dispite South being far more skillfully shown. Incase you didn't notice, the whole season was focused on making females look far more powerful than the males of the show, a clear point of this is how Maine, someone that killed Tex, got beaten up by a female henchmen that wasn't even a main character. Does that make sense to you? That he could kill Tex but not a female henchmen? Not once in that whole season did a female get beaten by a male, it was always female beating another female. It's obvious that RoosterTeeth completely favoured females in this season and disrespected their male characters.
Why do you compare Maine to a cockroach? Take a knife through the back of a cockroach and it will die, do it to Maine, he wouldn't even flinch. That's like me saying Maine is a cockroach and Carolina is a spider, sure the spider is faster, but it's still not big enough to take down the cockroach.
Yes, the armour enhancement is a good point, although I can counter it. The energy sword he was stabbed with went right through him, which means it went past his armour, into his body, and came out the other end. Also, you can see abit of blood from some of the slashes Tex gives to him.
He isn't capable without his A.I or armour enhancements? May I remind you that he had neither of those things when he fought and killed Tex?
Yes, although information suggests that Maine could of let Carolina live in return for her A.I and armour ability, which he has achieved already. If he could kill Tex, I'm certain he could kill Carolina if he so choosed.
Also, some believe that Maine is still alive. Out of everything he had been through, a fall off a cliff kills him? I don't buy it, and neither do most other fans.
I seen a poster on the RoosterTeeth website with Maine bent down in an armour lock like position with the description "Down, but not out"...That was from the actual RoosterTeeth website.

My point being that you can say Maine defeated Tex all you want, but the point is that she's destined to lose. Not at everything mind you, but when it finally comes down to it in a critical moment, she has to mess up. By that regard, killing Tex isn't all together hard if apply the right amount of tension to a situation.
And I find the female aspect to Season 9 to be fitting. The Director may have went out of his way to employ the greatest females he could find while fine tuning some male soldiers. As for Maine here, I understand his bumbling. Why? Because he is bumbling. He was never coordinated or that good a fighter. True, he's strong and a ballistic unstoppable force, but in a fist fight he lacks technique; this shows very glaringly.
I could go on, but i'm just tired hah.

I still doubt she would be able to defeat Maine even if she wasn't going to lose. For example, if it applied for her all the time, the Red Team would of beaten her. I wouldn't say he's a bad fighter, he did kill freelancers said to be far more skilled than Washington, which Washington was higher on the freelancer board than Maine. I don't think he lacks too much technique. Remember when the reds were fleeing in Valhalla in the Warthog? He done a pretty good technique then by using the gravity lift. Surely Tex is far more skilled than Maine, but Maine is definetly not stupid, although he does rely mostly on his endurance.
I still don't find it fair that the females get better skills all the time. Maine is probably the only best male character in the whole show that actually does some pretty cool things.
York was second to Carolina, and yet he didn't get to do any cool scenes...I mean, come on.
I'm giving RoosterTeeth the benefit of the doubt that it was just a coinsidence, and that next season there will be awesome male scenes that are just as awesome as the female ones, but part of me doubt there will be any cool male scenes that compare to the female scenes.

He served as the voice of the department of councilors that were talking over the acts of "Project Freelancer". He was clearly in favor of shutting it down in light of what the Meta was doing, but his claims had no real ground until the records of the AIs had been dug up along with the nature of Project Freelancer. Then. he personally called for the AIs, which thanks to Washington couldn't happen. Because of this they came to an impasse with the Director's case. Whether this to be a good thing for the Director is unclear. However, because they lacked an AI they couldn't firmly lock the Director's case down.
