Description
Our 6th partner for Paper Mario: Fortune of Fear, Pepperspray.

She's met at the start of Chapter 5, Candy Castle, after making a daring escape from the building when most of her other comrades have been captured by the likes of Tubba Blubba and the Shroobs that have invaded. This whole story disregards the idea that Tubba has a career in tv as referenced by Francis in SPM. (in fact I like to think that the anime he mentions is just based on Tubba rather than him actually acting in it xD) So instead, the idea is that Tubba runs across one of the fragments of the Prophet's moon after it broke apart early in the prologue, and because the shroobs are tracking said fragments to put the moon back together and take over, they in turn run into him. They think at first that he's one of them and try asking for the rock to return it to their leader Princess Shroob, though when he doesn't cooperate they work out a deal with him when they find out he's trying to find some place to call home after being run out from Gusty Gulch. So this is what leads to them taking over Candy Castle. About midway into the chapter though when Tubba just becomes a nuisance in the eyes of the Shroobs, gets kicked out entirely. He then ends up helping Mario and co temporarily to run the shroobs out and get the Prophet's moon fragment in exchange for the group telling him that there is a nice secluded house out at Forest Falls he could move to (since all the poor guy really wants is a house), since one of the characters in that area moved out by the end of the chapter to return to their original home in Instrumenta City.

Pepperspray herself is a special species of Bob-omb along with all the other bob-omb denizens of the castle, known as smoke bob-ombs. These bob-ombs have a weaker blast power than normal bob-ombs, however that's made up for by their unique types of smoke and gas they can create from exploding. Pepper's as her name suggests is a sort of tear gas that prevents enemies from being able to see. Since Bloom can allow Mario and co to pass through walls, Pepper doesn't use any explosions to break down walls like previous bob-omb partners. Instead, her overworld ability allows her to fill an area with pepper gas, incapacitating/distracting enemies for a short time allowing Mario and co to safely sneak by, or hide in the cover of the smoke, so long as they keep their faces covered. So essentially the bob-omb and the boo of the group have had their overworld uses swapped. xDDD

Pepper herself is a rather loose-cannon member of the Bob-omb guard that protects Candy Castle, which is home to the Smoke Bob-omb king, King Badaboom. Her battalion consists of not just smoke bob-ombs, but also kaboombas, snifits, and boom guys. The entire group is led by General Blubomb, a child-hood crush of hers. Both her and Blubomb will tease each other every once in a while, though while Pepper's serious about her cute musings, Blubomb's only just playing to her, because he already has a girlfriend that she's entirely unaware of, and also as her commander he has no idea that she's being serious.

There's also another Smoke Bob-omb in her battalion by the name of Ba-Bam. He only joined the group recently before the takeover, though he's had a major thing for Pepper since his recruitment. He tries often to impress her, though she's too distracted by Blubomb to ever notice any of his actions. Only by the end of the chapter does the whole love triangle resolve when Mario and co rescue the trapped soldiers of the castle- including Blubomb, where he then tells her of his relationship after she attempted to kiss him from relief that he was unhurt.

So after the heartbreak following the break out, Ba-Bam seizes the moment to finally admit his love to her, and she ends up returning the feelings to him. She then decides to keep in touch with him, as well as Blubomb after the whole mess was resolved, to go and helping Mario and co through the rest of their journey. Especially to make up for all the trouble they had to go through to save the castle.

If you can't tell, Chapter 5 is the chapter I have the most thought out right now in my head. xDDDD It's seriously become my favorite out of all of them thusfar~ And if you want to see what Blubomb and the other's look like, including characters to appear in other chapters- have a peak at the rest of the character cast here: (it's a work in progress so only about half of the full roster is drawn at the moment)

In any case here's Pepper's moveset:

Explode
Launches an explosion weaker than a normal bob-omb on a single enemy, with the chance to incapacitate them with smoke, causing most attacks to miss for a brief time.

Tear Gas
Powers up to launch a large smoke cloud, incapacitating all enemies and making most of their attacks miss for a brief time. Costs FP to use.

Sweet Spot
Targets and enemy no matter their location and leaps up to crash down onto them. Costs FP to use.

Recruit Call
Whistles for members of her battalion to come and assist in an attack on all enemies, a higher powered member coming to assist the better your action command is executed. Characters such as Ba-Bam and Blubomb have a chance of cameoing during this attack as well. Costs a lot of FP to use.
