Description Here's our first partner of my Paper Mario: Fortune of Fear series, Mermor~

He's the first partner that you start out with, but he's a little different than most. For one he's out on the battle field at all times along with Mario, meaning that you'll have 3 active party members total throughout the game instead of the regular 2.

Secondly, he doesn't have any direct attacks that he can use, unless you count his last ablility, Spellbound.

A third thing unique to not just Mermor, but to all partners, is that there will be numerous sections where you get to play as the partner themselves, as opposed to Mario, both in the over world and in battle. And this can take place sometimes before even encountering the partner personally, like during the prologue of a chapter. In chapter 5 of the game for instance, at Candy Castle, I had the idea that the player would take control of Pepperspray, a Smoke Bob-omb of the castle, as she makes a daring escape from the Shroobs that have taken over the castle to reach the outside before bumping into Mario and requesting his help.

In any case, Mermor himself is a young, and as his name suggests, very quiet apprentice to the classic character Merlon of Toad Town, though Mermor himself lives in a home in Dy Vide Valley, a place that's located right by the entrance to the Millennium Temple. Mermor thinks he's apprenticing to become a fortune teller, like Merlon, but he actually has a far different purpose planned in his future, (and that's probably why his name isn't Merlon also ), and the only reason he's apprenticing to begin with was at the request of his mother Meramore, as a distraction so that he doesn't get himself into trouble during her absence.

Without further ado, his actual moves are as follows:

Forewarn
Initially used as a move for Tattle, it has a secondary use that can predict the next action of any foe that's already been tattled on, costs FP whenever it's used after initially tattling on an enemy. Just so it's not totally abused to constantly predict what an enemy's going to do next. xDDD

Debuffer
Used to cancel out any buffs an enemy currently has, or to decrease their defenses when they don't have any buffs at all. Costs FP

Luck of the Draw
Has an effect similar to Merlee's spells in that it will randomly cause a helpful effect, such as increasing Star Points, decreasing damage, ect. Costs FP

Spellbound
Draws in all his energy to summon one of the Prophet Shaman's abilities to use for himself, changing the color of his robes, and replacing "Spellbound" with that particular move for a number of turns during the battle, though in a weaker form. Costs a lot of FP.

Since he doesn't have any moves that really cause direct damage, like Mario and other partners he'll have the ability to pass, charge summoning power (for mario to call on the Shamans), or defend, so you won't suck up FP everytime his turn comes up.

Also I decided that I'll still do everyone in Paper Mario style, but I'll be making them a lot less static- like I ended up doing with all the Prophet Shamans a little earlier. xDDD

She looks perfect! You don't mind if me and a friend of mine can borrow this character for a Mario project do you? It's a flash series and I would like to make sprites of this OC under your permission. Is that okay?

Erm, he's a boy. And I'd prefer not having him being used in a series that might take him out of context of who he actually is (especially if his gender's gonna get swapped >XD). If it's just for a cameo in the background then I wouldn't mind, but not as any sort of significant character or speaking role in whatever it is that you're doing, things like that you're much better off creating your own characters to fill those spaces.

So if it's just for a brief cameo and you credit back to where he came from then I'd be alright with it, otherwise it's going to be a no. :>

I am curious of what this Mario project actually is, do you have any sort of parts of it finished that you might link me to? :0 I'd be interested in having a look.~

And also he's a fan character, not an original character xD;;;;; It always kinda bugs me when people call these guys original yet they take place as a species in a universe that I don't even own

Oh... Okay... I guess I'll just have to find somebody else. What I'm looking for is a Sharmen Character to teach a main hero in this show we are working on is by teaching a magic power that can be used. Thanks for repling back though, I'll just find somebody else. The Mario project you asked about is actully a Mario and Kirby Crossover series called Super Mario Bros GT A.K.A SMBGT and it's made by See it if you want to.

Yeah, something like that it just seems more fitting to create your own character or use one of the canon shamans like Merlon or something. xD;

Anyways I'll be sure to take a peak. :>

Thanks so much, with how prominent they are in the series I always wondered why there hadn't been one before, fanmade or otherwise.~

You're very welcome. Exactly! At least you're the first one to make a magician like character.

Having the ability to control a party member other than Mario? Tt's a VERY interesting idea. I might work that feature in my next Paper Mario project, The Shroob's Fury.

Ironically my project Paper Mario: Fortune of Fear, hosts the Shroobs as the main villains as well. xDDD I have more details on what their role in the story is on the other recent pictures I've done for this project, and they're all in my Mario folder of my gallery if you're at all curious. :> Most info of the shroobs for the moment is in this picture: [link] though the other pictures have snippits of info on them as well.~

Interesting. Just one question: does your story have a crazy scientist working for the Shroobs?

Anyway, It's all coincidental that both of our story have the Shroobs as the main villains, even though I'm not working on Paper Mario The Shroob Fury yet. Still got Darkness in Time to worry about, and it's on hiatus right now... But it's all interesting.

No it does not, so you don't have to worry over the ideas being too similar. This whole project I actually created almost two years ago and only recently have I picked back up on it.

Mine features the reprise of the present day Princess Shroob, whom is the daughter of the younger Princess Shroob that tried to take over the planet with her older sister in Partners in Time, and is not the present day queen. In anycase it's the current princess that leads an invasion on the Mushroom Kingdom. I actually have a picture of her though I plan to redraw her in full color sometime soon. [link]

Interesting. My story is about Fawful on his mission to reawaken the Shroob army frozen inside Bowser's castle. The true villain, however, is the original younger Princess Shroob (once she's freed from her icy prison). So, while you're using a new Princess Shroob, I'm using the original Princess Shroob.

That's actually an interesting take on using the shroobs as well. I always really liked that they snuck that easter egg into the game, since the Shroobs are one of my favorite Mario species. For whatever reason I've just always been fascinated by them. xDDD

Yea, that was interesting. However, I can't do the story since I'm still not done with my current Paper Mario project: Darkness in Time.

Well, I guess that makes you the opposite of considering he hates the Shroobs (both game wise and character wise), yet he still included the Shroobs in his comic, Mario's Legend...
