Yes, he was great in RE4, too ^^
But yeah, the story of RE4 was... well, not so good XD I didn't like this whole "Kidnap the President's daughter"-plot >.<
It became better when Ada, Krauser and Wesker showed up, though...

Yeah, I totally feel the same way. The plot felt like it fell off one of those 80s/90s beat-em-ups like Dragonninja or Final Fight. I think RE4 was when the series became more action and they started calling it 'Survival Action', moved away from horror (other than creatures) and I started to lose interest a bit.

Haha yes, the plot was quite cheesy XD
And the change wasn't that bad... since almost all those characters are trained soldiers, a scenario like the first few REs wouldn't make sense anymore.
But still, a little bit less action would be nice. Revelations was a step in the right direction!

It was the whole 'Save the president's daughter' thing I think xD.
RE4's one of those games, I really enjoyed it once I got into it, but it's got quite a few difficulty spikes that really, I don't want to go through again (the dynamite canyon and the ridiculous quicktime knife fight with Krauser spring to mind) so I haven't played it again since I finished it. One of the things I was surprised I enjoyed was actually the escort mission dynamic with Ashley, normally those kind of things are a nightmare because the character you're escorting acts like a muppet and gets eaten if you so much as turn your back on them, but they made Ashley quite sensible as AI goes and it never felt like a chore looking out for her.
I've got Revelations on the go at the moment, I'm about halfway through it. I'm really enjoying it. I'm having much more fun with it than Resi 5 or 6. It's got the old-school Resi vibe back, but it's got much more up to date game mechanics. There's a lot less faffing about and as a result a lot less cheap death xD.

I think if any characters out of the blue came back, I would be happy if it was Ashley, she was the right combo of a bit vulnerable but likeable, quite strong as a character and she never wore out her welcome. I always actually wanted to save her.
The only part that's got on my nerves so far was the first boss fight with the guy with the saw arm, mainly cos I didn't realise for like 20 retries that the final barrel I had to shoot was in the office he burst out of. Other than that I think if it keeps up it's quality it could easily be a new favourite.

I'll go with Billy (or Barry & Rebecca). Or CLAIRE! XD
Aaaah, yes XD The Mayday boss... that one was creepy and quite difficult on my first run ^^°
Have you finished it by now?

PoisonRemedy In reply to ChaoticClaire [2014-02-04 21:49:21 +0000 UTC]
Claire's always a must, but she's not been out of action very long. Barry for sure, and Rebecca and Billy are great too.
Creepy as hell! It really spooked me. I'd probably do alright now I know the procedure but it took me ages to work out where all the barrels were.
No my XBox 360 is in our front room so I only really play it when I'm on my own in the house or have a day off while my housemate is working from home. I'm about 2 3rds of the way through it I think.

And I see ^^°

Yeah one of my pet peeves with games is bosses like that where you've got a boss that you HAVE to kill a specific way but he/she is being buffered by a continuous stream of lesser baddies.
I have been playing more Revelations this week so am up to Ep 8 or 9 now I think? I've met up with Chris and Jessica and Parker have gone off on their own, I'm just starting that stage.

I kind of miss boss enemies where you had to learn a pattern and exploit it though. All bosses, especially in survival horror, seem to be a kind of puzzle game with weapons now, like you cannot do a lot of them damage unless you figure out exactly how you're supposed to hurt them. The problem with the Mayday boss for me was that it took me 7 goes until I looked in the room it came from because I'd never intentionally go into such a confined small space when fighting a boss rather than me not being able to avoid him successfully.

Yes, a bigger area definitely seems to be better in that case ^^°
And yes, some bosses are just way too easy these days. With red marks all over their weak spots or co-op partners / ai partners who tell you what to do and help you out during the fight.

No ^^° (man, so many games out there that I haven't played XD)
I think the area was fine, you could easily jump to another level to evade its attacks ^^
And don't forget about the explosives all over the place.
Well, I guess it's a personal taste XD

Definitely worth a look. It wouldn't surprise me if Revelations and Lost Planet share some team members, very similar gameplay dynamic.
I think you're bang on to be honest. I found that with Silent Hill Homecoming, I was playing it round a friends the first time I played it and I got out of the first sequence in like 20 minutes, turned to find her seething like 'That. Took. ME. TWO. HOURS! YOU BAAAASTARD!'. Likewise I never had any trouble with Silent Hill 4 and lots of people tell me they gave up on that because of the unkillable ghosts. But then I struggle with other things, for instance I am AWFUL at dealing with Hunters on RE1, but then go to RE2, and the Licker is basically the same thing, but they don't give me anywhere near as much hassle!

True ^_^.
I never really had any trouble with SH4. I thought it was pretty good but it gets a lot of hate from the fandom, and I can see what people mean in terms of it being potentially infuriating. I nearly got stuck on it a few times.
Hah the main thing I find with Lickers is that they're sometimes irritatingly clever. They're very hard to lead into traps, unlike most other RE enemies that will just track to you immediately. even the Hunters will just relentlessly, stupidly attack you and chase you til one of you dies but Lickers are clever little bastards. It took me three tries to get back through the police station basement after doing the bit with Sherry.

Yeah the ones in the mansion I normally cap the ones I know I have to go through because the second bit in the mansion has a lot of backtracking, but when I got down to the tunnels my reaction evolved into 'Raaargh!' 'NOPE!' *flees*

I don't think there's any other enemy in the series hit that total scare/irritation point for me. I wasn't keen on the Chimeras either but they were in very few parts of the game and fairly easy to outrun, I think Capcom realised they were swines to get rid of so made them more of a 'crap RUN!' monster.

Yes, the Chimeras are quite creepy, but so easy to outrun. Too bad they didn't appear in another game, I liked them in RE1.

Yeah, I think the Verdugo was a bit of a throwback to them, but other than that yeah it would've been nice to see them in other games. The Licker's kind of a mashup of the Hunter and Chimera.

Try (and you may already do this) angling the page as you draw. Works wonders for perspective. I tend to work from a 45 degree angle on almost everything from traditional to digital.

Oh I love how you are drawing the classic guys like that is very awesome. But I think what I like especially is their costumes like the outfit looks so wicked. I like how much detail it has, the addition of the pouch on the leg is really nice looking. Think as well you can see how many layers he is wearing too.
He also looks quite grim and I think that does suit how he acts during the game. As always you anatomy is really dynamic and it looks like he just stepped back right just to fire like just there. The way his hands look while pointing it and from that angle is just so very cool. Front cover material for sure
Think maybe the head is a little small compared with the hair? But is still very cool to see him .
