Haunting and beautiful. I love the careful detail and the dramatic feel to the drawing.

Thanks--I really love old cemeteries, of course here in New England that means a couple centuries---possibly a little different than the UK...

A pleasure. Yes, our cemeteries are little different. Each grave sits upon another stretching back an average of 900 years in most. There are very few 'new' cemeteries, but in some cases new developments sit above graveyards, for example the new Gatwick airport runway, will demolish church land in a village call Charlwood.

Well in New England 'old' is 200-300 years, in the Midwest US it's 100 or even less...all relative, but I think it must be fascinating to live in a landscape with history a thousand years old.
Development doesn't respect much, does it?

No it doesn't sadly. It is mind-blowing really, when you consider the age of each village, London itself has been around since Roman times. Somewhere though, there probably an ancestor of yours buried.
