we don't really know what this mare's breeding is, she's put together stockier and rounder than my Arab.
We think maybe Quarter Horse, do you have them there?
Greg tells me Kat was a very accomplished rider when she was younger.

Again, stunning piece of work! Very photo-realistic, all I would suggest is to perhaps darken the grass a bit to create a stronger contrast, although I did read in one of your comments below about the grass being a bit difficult to get right, something that I haven't even attempted so far so good job

Thank you, and thanks for the suggestion. I too think the grass could have been darker and worked a little more in the foreground, though this image is a bit lighter than the original. It bothers me a little whenever I look at this.

Beautiful, beautiful work!
The grass/background overall is so impressive... All that detail! And it's not too dark, which really adds a gentle atmosphere to the piece. And the horse is just gorgeous. There's a nice sense of realism, but I can also see some of your individual style mixed in. Lovely job!

thank you, that's a lovely comment! The grass was a bit of a bugbear for just that reason that I didn't want to over- or under- work it. It's too easy to get bogged down in details that might be better left alone.
She's a good little mare, opinionated and stubborn like a proper mare but people-friendly and tractable.
