REMINDER:

This post is related to a genre called Alternate History; any politically-charged comments shall be prohibited.

I created this alternate Papuan flag last 8th of February, 2017; at that time, I thought that the said flag would be fitting in a scenario where the whole New Guinea became a unified nation-state. It's been indeed almost four years then, and my point of view in relation to New Guinea (in AH terms) had more or less changed, particularly in linguistic terms: in the western part of the island, I recently thought of an either Austronesian-speaking (either the west, the east or both) or West Papuan-speaking (although I also thought of restricting itself to both Halmahera and Bird's Head peninsula, especially if the latter had involved the power of the ASB).

Anyway, the (ATL) Papuan flag is obviously inspired by its nearest OTL counterpart , particularly the colors; the design is slightly different as I used the Southern Cross on the canton, which is a bit inspired by the American (or even the Australian Red Ensign); otherwise, the stripes remained.
