That's an interesting and unique design for a sword, but what is the bit on the flat of the blade near the hilt for?

That's a really sleek design. I highly enjoy it! Will you be forging this thing in real life? THAT would be a treat to see! <3

At the moment I'm not forging anything. It would be pretty fun to make these things for real, though. (I've half decided to do Kairos, at least, so who knows?)

Wow. Very nice. That is cool... I so would want that sword. Imagine how huge your arms would be if you could wield that thing one-handed. Very nice! As a side note, myf riend's buying the cold steel grosse messer for ma birthday, so whoooo!

Impressive.
Most Impressive. You know have the honor of being my first (And possibly, only) comment.
Know, this is gonna be difficult, since I've never been one for praising those who are not me, but I'll try, this once.
Your skills are transcendent, and without equal or peer. I thank you for the creation of my weapon.
Also: I shall use this to split the skulls of the fools who oppose me.

I wonder if the extra blade would be useful on the other side, so that you could press against the blunt side of the blade to thrust the smaller blade into a glancing slash.

There probably are techniques that can make use of it, but mostly stuff like that are considered undesirable due to practical reasons. (Construction of the blade becomes MUCH more difficult, for example, not to mention maintainance and weight/balance issues.)

Oh yeah. See, normally you hammer out a rough blade out of a big piece of steel and grind it into a desired shape. With something like this, you'd have to hammer out a second, smaller blade on the side, which is really, really tricky.
That's why you can be sure that pretty much all fantasy swords with funny shapes have been cut out of a larger piece, rather then forged.

Well, can't you create a slot in the big piece and attach the smaller one separate?
