*resized and added a watermark ^_^i stayed home from school to work on this picture yesterday. it gave me the worst migraine, but i finished it today in art class. im so glad its overwith!
just a few notes:
i altered this picture a lot, so expect a LOT of differences. i just had to play around with that insane hair of his!!!!(yes, its a HE) i also extended it a bit so the hair was more prominant in the picture. unfortuneately, i have no clue where i found the original photo. but, as soon as i find it, ill post a link here! so, in short, excuse my insane alterations, and hopefully you'll enjoy this drawing anyway, cuz, although i hated it so much while working on it, i really do like his hair. everytime i say i hate the hair, i dont mean how it turned out, lol, just the horrible, horrible process of drawing it! but after this drawing, im not letting myself complain anymore!
the model for this picture is a japanese rocker named Hisashi Tenomora (with crazy cool hair!), from an awesome band called Glay. everyone's been asking, so now you know

There's not much to get. it's a purely technical drawing.

how do you keep your black lines from running together (on the hair) and make sure that the white is still there? and, also, the black around the edges, what did you use to make it that black?

I just pay really close attention and do it very meticulously. usually when i have lighter hairs amidst black i draw the hair in very lightly so i can see where it is, then shade in around it very dark. as for the black, i fill the whole thing in as dark as i can with a .7 lead pencil, then go over it with a 9B woodless pencil, then go back over it again very methodically with the mechanical pencil. going over it again reduces shine and make the black more flat ^_^

oh, and by lead pencil i mean mechanical pencil XD some people confuse that because of my weird terminology o.o

i only use regular lead pencil to do everything, then a 9B for the dark spots. i dont much like juggling with all the different types of pencils when i can get all of them with one. ^_^

i use 8B or 9B woodless pencil all over, then go back and use my lead pencil to go over it and smooth out the pencil strokes
