The cake I (Lisa) baked for our last day of school. It's a dark chocolate cake with orange buttercream icing and covered with fondant. This is my second try with fondant (excluding that topsy turvy fiasco...)Decorated it with gumpaste spiders (which I also made), some dark chocolate piping and chocolate buttercream for the 'seems' of the cake. It's kind of a test drive for a Halloween cake I want to bake for a Halloween party I plan to throw... So far, so good!

How do you keep the fondant from sliding off the buttercream???

Well I'm not an expert on fondant (this is my second time working with it), but before I covered the cake with it I just put a thin layer of buttercream on - I think if it's too thick that's what'll make the fondant slide off. I also gently pressed it onto the cake to kind of 'fasten' it, if that helps...

Awesome, only used fondant once, and only for little details (flower petals), but shall have to try a cake like this. but i can't get over the taste :d

Have to say I agree with you - personally I don't like the taste (bleh), but when it's on the actual cake, it's easier to ignore (some of my friends actually like it, although they say it's very sweet *shrug*). Anyhoo, good luck with trying that cake out
