More Belfiore from Mozart's La Finta Giardiniera, an opera he composed when he was eighteen. My previous picture was heavily influenced by Richard Croft's portrayal in the 1988 Drottingholm production: [link]

I thought I would try my own portrayal of the character, digging in a little bit into his crazy side. Like...legitimately crazy.
I imagine this is when he comes in with his introductory aria "Che Beltà". Being that he's a Count, I placed him in very regal clothing and being that he's flighty and not all there, his wig is falling apart, the lace on his neck is askew, his feet are pointed in different directions, and pretty much the rose is kind of like him...stabby.

I hope to soon do a picture of him without his wig, tearing off his clothes and singing about how Zeus is his friend and he's Alchides and listen to the nymphs, how they sing, join me, Medusa the Horrible, and listen to the music of the lyre and the songs of the sirens; O sweet and heavenly bliss! what a day it is to be crazy!
I believe I'm a little obsessed with this character. So...expect more of him. Maybe.

The libretto for "La Finta Giardiniera" is believed to be by Giuseppe Petrosellini and the music is by the one and only W. A. Mozart (1775). I don't know. He was eighteen. Maybe he thought it was cool.
